Boy soon or Girl soon??!!

I was randomly looking on ebay for oval diamonds (curious to see what quality/prices are out there) and was talking to BF on the phone while browsing. I mentioned a few diamonds in particular, we chatted about the quality, etc. and he clearly has been doing some work on his own about rings, etc.

Then he says, "Aw, are you waiting for a diamond sweetie?"
Me, "Well, not WAITING, but I just happened to be looking......"
Him, "Don''t worry. A ring is coming soon."
Me: (in my head) "WHEN IS SOON?! BOY SOON OR GIRL SOON?????" (outloud), "Aw, I am excited! So, what time is your meeting?"

ACK! I can''t wait!!!

My SO said "it''ll come sooner than you think"... back in May! He kept saying it until about August when it started changing to "you may have to wait a little longer and be patient." Now our "timeline" ends in February (which I doubt will happen.) I would love to hear him say "soon" again, but if he ever did, I would want him to be a little more specific. Like you said, guys and girls have different opinions to what "soon" means. We all need to get on the same page!

OK.. I don''t want to rain on your parade and I hope from the bottom of my heart that it happens soon (girl soon), but guys can be really stupid about this.
My SO said back in July that I''m getting a ring soon. A week ago I asked him what was going through his mind at the time, ie what did he think was "soon" back then. And he said that at the time, he was thinking "whenever he can afford it".. I on the other hand, was thinking 1-2 months max. So don''t get your hopes up too much and it''s up to you but if you''re really curious you might want to clarify with him. I''ve got a real timeline out of him now but he had really gotten my hopes up and that sucked.
But like I said I hope you get it soon!!

Oooo don''t you love little convos like that??? I say just try not to get too excited for any one timeframe.... because boy soon definitely isn''t close to girl soon. But regardless, that''s a good sign!

SO says ''soon'' to me all the time and it''s starting to make me a little batty. He''s been saying that for awhile, so how soon can it really be? It''s at the point where it could be tomorrow (nearly impossible) or 6 months from now and I would have no idea. Grr.

BF has been saying he wants to get married ''soon'' for about two years now. So I guess there is some variability in ''soon''.

Lately this changed to ''sooner rather than later''.

Girl Soon: Tomorrow to 4 months

Boy Soon: 4 months until he is damn good an ready.....

My SO totally has the "BOY SOON" syndrome. I''ve been waiting for 2 1/2 years, and all along he''s been telling me "It''ll happen soon!"

However, I think he means it this time! Maybe in the next 3-4 months? Perhaps...
