Well, I finally gave in today, completely broke down.

I've been a stalker, ahem, I mean lurker for quite some time, I thought it's time I step out into the light!

I am from Michigan, and recent master graduate of U of M, and a teacher (I have a second interview tomorrow; should really be sleeping... but we all know how addicting Pricescope is)

I've already felt the love Pricescope has to offer so I hope I will be an asset to the community.

xoxo

welcome! tell us more about yourself...are you a LIW (I assume?) :wavey: :wavey:

Welcome! :wavey:

There's definitely a lot of love on PS, especially the LIW forum! Can't wait to get to know you!

Welcome!

Welcome to LIW!!

Hey Miss G!

I did my undergraduate at UoM and I'm still in the Detroit area. I know how you feel about breaking down and joining, I lurked for a while before finally giving in.

And now for the questions... :)
Whats your degree in? How long have you been dating your significant other? And now that you've decided to join do you think you'll ever get work done ever again? :D

Welcome!

Welcome! Tell us more about yourself and your boyfriend, how you met, any marriage talk ... all that exciting stuff. Hope your stay as a LIW is a short one.

Welcome! :wavey:

Welcome! I'm not a LIW anymore :-o but I still post here. Our wedding is not for 2 years so I'm not quite ready to fully jump on the BWW bandwagon yet.

Also, we just moved to Ann Arbor! Any suggestions of fun things to do here? My fiancee is starting at Michigan (hes at orientation now) so I'm looking for stuff to do to stay occupied!

I also want relationship and life details lol :P Welcome again!

Rhubarb, I didn't know we had so many Michigan girls in the house! All the museums in Ann Arbor are small, but pretty good, they are all on the main campus. Also check out the Lydia Mendelson Theater if you like that kind of thing, and the Power Center, for events. I love Ann Arbor!

Welcome MissG :wavey: !

Well ok, you guys ready?

Here goes...
First things first. I landed my interview! So I am not an OFFICIAL "Miss G", I got a teaching job in the Metro Detroit Area. My undergrad was from OU (English major) and my graduate from U of M was MAT and ESL, basically a teaching certificate and an endorsement to teach English to those that don't know any or very little English. I'm really excited, nervous, anxious... Everything that comes along with a new job!

I've been with my bf for (drum roll please) almost 7 years. It'll be 7 this November. Obviously from my previous comment, I've been completely dedicated to my schooling, and now I can reap the rewards.

We've talked marriage since early on, but timing was always off. I was busy with school, him with job transfer, moved back after a year, so and so forth. But this past weekend we were on a boat, and he said,
"Where do you want to go on our honeymoon? I need to marry you, I have to figure something out."

I wanted to reply, "Just do it already, dammit!" But I refrained and gave him a ;)) instead.

So count me in for being a lady in waiting, not sure if I want to be added to the list yet, it just makes it so "official."

All in all, I'll live off my new job high, and when that starts to dwindle, I'm sure the LIW-itis will kick in. That's where you guys step in for support!

xoxo

Rhubarb,
I would just put some comfy shoes on and walk out there! Downtown Ann Arbor is a great place for anything from antiques, to eclectic shops to restaurants.

If you are on State Street make sure to check out Sava's Cafe, it's a newer restaurant; the food is just scrumptious!

Also, once football season starts, make it a point to at least see ONE game. It is mayhem, the entire city is packed with fans...I'm sure you will just love Ann Arbor!

Welcome to LIW Miss G :wavey:

Congrats on your new job! :appl:

Welcome Miss G, whenever your ready let me know and ill add you to our list. :wavey:

Another MI teacher here. Welcome to the forum!

WOW! So much love already... Thanks ladies, I appreciate it!

I can't believe there are so many from Michigan, and teachers too! If you don't mind me asking [Mannequin] and [Tuckins1], what grades do you teach? I am teaching junior high.

I forgot to mention this, but while I was in school, I worked at a jewelry store for 4 years. Absolutely loved it and considered it my plan b if I couldn't find a teaching job. While I was there I fell in love with a semi-mount, that was custom made for a customer, but they chose something else out last minute. It's a 2 ctw, 10 total 20point RBC diamonds, shared prong, platinum, and low and behold, my size. I mentioned it to my boyfriend about a year ago, and he asked me today as we were walking around a local street fair, "So, what do I have to do if I want to get you that ring?" I told him to call one of my good friends who I know would take such great care of him, plus she knows exactly what I want in a diamond, so she can steer him in the right direction. :saint: I want it all to be a surprise, from when he gets the diamond, sets it, buys it, and plans to propose.

But I do have a question for Mannequin, I saw in your sig. that it says you are getting married in November (I think). I noticed that that is not scheduled around any sort of school break, how are you doing it? I was stuck thinking the only time a wedding would be feasible is summer break! Are you not taking a honeymoon after? Sorry if I'm too intrusive, I'm just curious about scheduling!

With that said, I guess you can officially add me to the LIW list.....

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. It has been a really busy week. I started a new job, which you already know, and on that same day my boyfriends father went to the hospital with stomach pains.

He's been there for over a week, with 'inconclusives" results. They are transferring him to another hospital which should be better equipped. My boyfriend has been spending every day with him, he of course thinking it could be the worst thing possible, cancer. We've all been praying and holding out for the best.

Hope you are all great =)
