Ladies, a friend of mine told me that ''hats'' are pretty in for brides right now. I think that''s so cool. I''m jumping the gun a bit since we likely won''t get engaged until July. But I''m definitely starting to daydream about this stuff, and am thinking about the idea of a very sleek simple dress with an amazing, extravagant headpiece. But do any of you know who makes these things? Pictures? websites? Ideas?

They are?

If so then cool. I can''t help with examples but you might want to check a bridal magazine.

Good thinking HH! (Or rather DUH! Why didn''t I think of that as a starting place?) I still feel a little guilty about the idea of looking at bride ****, but hey, I look at diamond ****, so why not?

OMG, it drives TJ (my bf) CRAZY when I log into PS or the knot.com from home. But I look at it as advance planning. The more I get done now the less we have to do and the sooner we can make things official.

Check the "editorial" spreads (fashion section) at the back of the magazines. That''s where they show the new trends etc...

That''s exactly what I think too. My boyfriend now asks every day, "so how''s the planning going?" and he knows I''ll update him on the latest stuff I''ve looked into. It''s much less stressful doing it this way rather than wait until we''re engaged.

As for hats, I''ve never seen them but it''s a cool idea.

Haha, my FFI laughs at my pricescope/knot obsession too, but if I send him something and say "what do you think of this...?" he''s on board flipping through the pictures and offering up opinions. Well, let me take that back. He''s on board when it''s diamonds, dresses, or anything that will be directly tied to ME. Anything flowers/decorations/location related he seems to be much more ambivalent about.

I haven''t come across hats in any of my bridal explorations, but I could see it being really fun, particularly for an outdoor/garden type wedding. A wide brim could help keep the sun out of your eyes while making a neat frame for your face in closeup photos.

I''ve been poking around a bit and have only seen two, so I guess my friend had the brim pulled over her eyes (haha?) There''s an amazing one on Oscar de la Renta''s bridal site (GAH! I MUST HAVE ONE OF THOSE GOWNS! Even if I have to sell our first born... ok, kidding. but barely). It''s a cloche style hat iwth a 20''s style dress. Oh, so beautiful!

The other one I saw was a pillbox with a crazy feather get up. Very chic.

I''m liking this hat idea...

I''ll pick up some bride **** on my way over to b/f''s place. I can read it undercover, under the covers? (teehee?)
