Hi everyone,

Haven''t posted in a long time, but it is getting down to crunch time for our wedding (May 20th -- eeek!).

One of the last things we have not yet figured out is what to do for a send-off. After our reception we''re probably going to go hang out in a bar with our friends for a while, so at first we were thinking we probably wouldn''t do anything. But now we think it would be nice to have some ''send-off'' pictures by the photographer to put at the end of the album.

The reception will end around 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon.

Rose petals, birdseed, and such things are out because we''d have to clean it up and I think they would be a little hazardous on the steps at the reception location any way.

Sparklers are out because it won''t be anywhere near dark.

Bubbles -- well, I just don''t really like the bubble idea. They''re messy and I''d also have to find and obtain them in the next few days.

Anyone have any other ideas? TIA!

What about ribbon sticks?

Some couples make their own using ribbons that coordinate w/ the wedding colors...

Also, Wilton makes these streamers-on-a-stick that are along the same lines as what CL suggested. And they are made to pop out but not detach from the main handle. We picked up a pack and they come 7 to a pack at about $14. I picked mine up at JoAnns but I''ve seen them at Walmart, too.......whereever they have a Wilton section I guess.

Yes, I''ve struggled with this idea too. I am not sure if you mean, a send off as you run to the "getaway car" outside the reception area/building? I agree, tossing stuff can be messy. My friend did a dried lavendar toss that was fragrant and not too messy, plus biodegradable. Since I don''t want to do any tossing, and am not 100% sold on bubbles, my MOH/sister suggested just a massive round of applause that could be sparked off by the bridal party--sort of a pre-arranged coordinated thing you could discuss at the rehearsal.

Would be interested to hear others'' suggestions as well. :)
