I usually never post here, but my dear friend is getting married in Sept/Oct(depending on her newly pregnant sisters due date) and we are talking about her wedding a lot as I am MOH. She told me last night on the phone that she has seen a black dress that she loves for us to wear, but get this...she wants us all to wear different colored shoes to match spray painted carnations that we will carry.

This sounds hideous to me. Has anyone seen this done and it went well? I am not sure what I am supposed to do here. It is her wedding and it really shouldn''t matter to me what I wear since it is her day, but this sounds like a huge mistake. Should I tell her that I think it is a bad idea? Usually I am very upfront with her, and if the shirt she is trying on is ugly I tell her that I think it is ugly. We are very close and we can both appreciate the others opinions so I am wondering to I tell her in a diplomatic way or let her have it her way since it is her wedding?

The spray painted carnations sound... problematic?

The flowers sound terrible, not the shoes. In fact, I would have loved to match the shoes to the flowers of my girls (they had different colored lisiathius bouquets) however I tried to make it simple. In the end, no one noticed my bridesmaids shoes. So, I wouldn''t say anything.

On the flower note, are these real flowers or fake? I might suggest a way to incorporate real flowers of different colors. If it helps, the lisiathus that we used aren''t on the expensive end and they come in a variety of colors.

In my mental image of it I pictured turquoise shoes with carnations that are sprayed with turquise paint and I have seen carnations sprayed and I do not like the look at all. In order for the shoes to match the paint they would look atrocious. I guess if she chose good colors it wouldn''t be bad. This is a september/october wedding so I am not sure what colors that she will use. It also depends on if the dresses are long. I think that it would not look good with shorter dresses. Long ones, with a color peeking when you walk is cute, but I would feel like a clown with tea legnth and pink shoes.

i''m wanting my bms to wear short black dresses w/colored shoes of their choosing. (they will not match their bouquets, however.) obviously, i don''t think it''s hideous but it''s a matter of personal taste. here''s my inspiration pic: (btw, sorry i don''t know who to credit for this pic; i''m horrible at keeping up w/that.)

Actually that is kinda cute isn''t it? I do like that after all. My mental image was waaaaay different. Well now I am very gald I came here first before I told my best friend that her idea sucked. I am so amazed about how off I was. I like the shoes different colors, now the carnations. That is completey workable. I know that she will go with a different flower at the slightest urging.
