My Aunt is hosting my bridesmaid luncheon this Saturday. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on "ice breakers" or a little game that could be played. We are having lunch and I will present my bridesmaids with their gifts but this is the first time the bridemaids are getting all together before the wedding and most of them do not know each other so I was considering an "ice breaker." Any ideas? TIA!

What about compiling a list of traits or things about each girl that is maybe unusual, and then ask the group, Who in this group is the one who likes blah blah blah. Another one is to ask each person to write down something about themselves that others might not know and might find interesting, then collect them and ask the group to guess who that person is...or have each one contribute something they know about you that is not know by many, providing of course it not be embarrassing or intended to humiliate you in any way. I used to have a set of cards that had ice breaking questions and conversation starters on them, cannot recall who manufactured them or the name of the set of cards, but you could possibly google some ideas as well.

You could play Two Truths and A Lie. Each person has to write down two truths (e.g. 1) I''m part Indian/Native American 2) I called off a wedding 3) I''ve traveled to Alaska three times...#3 is a lie) and a lie about themselves to share with the group and everyone has to guess which is the lie. It''s a fun little game.

i once went to a dinner party with some people i knew/some i didn''t, and this was a fun idea-
the hosts put a large pretty bowl in the middle of the table, and then, as we were eating, we took turns picking a question out of the bowl-
i can''t remember the questions exactly, but one of the ones i got was to describe one thing i liked about myself and one thing i didn''t

some questions were serious, others were funny-

it flowed really well and was nice to do over a meal so we didn''t feel as "on the spot" as can sometimes be if the icebreaker activity is the only thing going on

I went to a shower where almost no one knew anyone else. The bride knew very few of the guests. Kinda awkward right?

As each person arrived they were given a name tag on their back. Each name tag had a wedding related word on it. You had to talk to the other guests to figure out what was on your back so you could take the name tag off. Think 20 questions. It really got people to talk to each other and loosen up. The older guests really liked the racier words like wedding night and lingerie.

It was one of the best showers I ever went to. Before I arrived I only knew 2 people by the end I had 20 new friends. And the bride who was adamant that she did not want a shower, cried and thanked us at the end.

That''s a cool idea!

I dunno that you will really need games though. I was a little worried that my BMs would feel a lil awkward all hanging out together for a long period of time (we had an overnight retreat followed by a lunch the next day), but they all got along as if they had known each other forever (well some of them did know each other, so I guess that helped.) It was pretty cool seeing my best friends become friends. In fact, they all exchanged numbers and email and everything and have hung out since.

Actually, now that I think about it, at all 5 of the weddings I''ve been a bridesmaid in, the bridesmaids all just sort of naturally had tons to talk about. A lot of it was wedding related of course or memories of the bride or whatever, but still. I dunno, maybe I''ve been lucky and gotten to be a part of really fun wedding parties, but I always have fun. At the last one I was in, there were 10 of us, and the girls that didn''t know anyone instantly gravitated towards each other and were REAL buddy-buddy by the end of the weekend.
