Thinking more about bridesmaids'' dresses:

Here is an example of the color scheme I was thinking of. Bridemaids'' dresses in olive with a celery sash, flowers in scarlet. My dress in ivory for comparison. I''m still worried about it looking Christmas-y?

my wedding thread

And the dress I'm thinking of, in dupioni silk, probably without embroidery though:

Rewearable (in a rich olive)? Does it clash too much with my dress?

What part of the country are you getting married in? I saw your wedding is Sept 20, but is it more likely that the weather will be warm or cool and fall-ish? I think maybe just lightening up the red of the flowers will keep it from looking Christmas-y. I like the flowers that you posted for your centerpieces, could you pull in more light colors like that into the bridesmaids bouquets? Maybe the bouquets could have a couple of flowers that are dark red like you posted, but have mostly green and cream flowers in them? I''m guessing that unless you are getting married in the very north, there is a good chance it could be super hot on your wedding day, and the lighter flowers might go better with warmer weather too...

I love dupioni with lace, it will look fab!!

Thanks, karasue.

I mispoke when I said that the bouquets would be all red...they will be a mixture of ivory ranunculus, lime green chrysanthemums, red and green hypercium berries, and red roses. The color of red will be a true Chinese vermillion red, with orangey undertones. This swatch looks a little on the burgundy side..I got a little lazy in preparing it

I''m getting married in Rhode Island...so the weather won''t be particularly cool or super hot. Hopefully, in the 70s in the evening.

Do you think that a dress in olive would be more rewearable than a dress in celery? I think my bridesmaids would look good in either color, I just thought that a darker color would be more versatile.

I think either color is probably equally wearable if the bridesmaids look good in both. If you bridesmaids are not really busty or really flatcheasted then the strapless should be fine as well.
I do think they are beautiful and I actually like the embrodery.

I think olive is more universally flattering than celery for sure. Am I seeing things or is there a different color on the hem of the dress? What if you let the BMs decide if they like the celery or the olive? I also agree with brazen too...that the shape of the girls might also be a factor...

But yeah, I would definitely wear an olive dress more than celery. You can wear it in winter with some tights and a sweater, or in the summer. I might just have the sash the same color as the dress though, if you really want them to be able to wear them again. The dress is super cute, esp if that hem is a different color. I''m not a huge fan of the embroidery though.

The description you gave of the flowers you want sounds perfect!!!
