What did you give your Bridesmaids as gifts at the rehearsal or what gifts did you receive as a bridesmaid? If you were the BM did you love them or hate them? Just looking for some ideas.

I grew up going to camp with all of my bridesmaids ( except for my SIL's and my new niece) so I have pictures of us from akward adolesent years and I found beautiful handmade frames from all over the place and I put photos of us in the frame and wrote from the heart letters to my friends about our friendships over the last 13 years and what they meant to me. I also had stained glass pieces made that were hearts so they could hang them where ever- I have since seen them on mirrors in bathrooms and on windows in living rooms ect. ( She is a family friend, the lady who does the stained glass- really really inexpensive...if you are interested) I also had makeup bags hand made for them and filled them with goodies like, polish for toes and hands to match what we did the day of the wedding for touch ups, flip flops for dancing later in the night, powder, blush and some body spray for when we had been drinking and sweating... I gave all my girls the gifts at the rehersal dinner except for my MOH. I gave her all the same things that I gave the girls but I took a scrapbooking class and made her this incredible scrapbook of our friendship all 15 years. It was awesome. I wanted something really personal because being in my wedding was really personal to me..... They all loved the gifts and it is cool to see the photos framed and up at peoples houses when I visit..... :)

I gave my MOH a sterling bookmark from Tiffany''s. I gave my two BM''s a sterling necklace and a sterling cuff bracelet, and I got my two jr. bm''s sterling charm bracelets. I guess I was in a sterling mood, lol!

Most gave me jewelery to wear in the wedding.

I''m thinking of giving my bridesmaids either a silver bracelet and having their names engraved in them, or a cool picture frame I found especially for bridesmaids and put pictures from the bachelorette party in them.

Generally, I've gotten jewelry to wear in the wedding.

One was pearl earrings (which I loved) and a bag of some other little stuff, like candy from her homewown and a little monogrammed box.

One was inexpensive jewelry the bride made for us to wear (which I like, but don't love, but don't feel bad about because it was inexpensive), along with an angel ornament she picked out specially, different for each bridemaid. This I really liked, because it included something functional, and something really meaningful.

One was a heart necklace to wear (which I don't like and feel bad about because she got the expensive gold version, and I'll never ever wear it) and a gift certificate towards getting our hair done.

In general, I like the idea of jewelry to wear in the wedding, because its useful, but don't go for something expensive unless you're sure your girls will love it (like the classic pearl earrings, I'll wear them forever), otherwise it just goes to waste. I also like the idea of pairing somehing more meaningful, like a framed photo or little memento with the jewelry.

Thanks for the tips. Wow Renee you went all out. I like the makeup idea...I was thinking of maybe doing a tote bag with some goodies.

Does anyone have any suggestions for cute black flip flops...maybe with sequins...if not I might get some plain black or flamingo ones from from j.crew

I already ordered these accordian photo books in pear green silk that I''m going to pictures in with a note...

I gave my girls each a very nice quality cubic zirconia tennis bracelet (since I was wearing mine I wanted us all to "match") that they could wear after the wedding, as well as Tiffany heart tag keychains engraved with their names. They loved it!

i am going the pearls & pashminas route. pearl stud earrings (not real) for them to wear the day of the wedding and pashminas for them to wear too. it''s a november wedding, so the pashminas can be useful. plus, i think both are gifts that i would love to get.

I''m giving the gals nice wraps to wear over their dresses, and earings to wear on the wedding day. I''d bought necklaces too, but I don''t think they go with the new dress I picked out.

LOL, reading back on it I see that maybe I had been a little crazy. I just love giving gifts and so when I get to do that I really get geeked.... you should see me around Christmas. I like the photos albums, I am going to order one my self!! ;) How about a get together soon???

thanks ky6! i will check them out.

Faerievert- where are you getting your wraps?

I''m giving my girls silver bracelets that are specifially made in the Virgin Islands where we will be wed. I am also giving them cute flip flops to wear to the ceremony. I''m wondering if I should give them something else? I''ll pay to have all of our pedicures for the wedding too.
what else?

I got each of my girls an Elsa Peretti Initial Pendant from Tiffany''s.

I personally have received jewelry to wear in the wedding and I have never worn it again... I wanted to get them something that they could wear often...

I''ve gotten jewelry to wear and it wasn''t the kind of jewelry I would wear again.

For mine, I bought them 18k white gold necklaces with black pearls, and matching earrings. (I got them when we were on vacation in China, otherwise they probably would have been out of my price range.)

In addition, I gave my MOH frequent flyer miles to travel here for the wedding.

I'm paying for all the bridesmaids and MOH to have their hair and makeup done the day of the wedding (my MOH did this for us at her wedding, and it was really nice, not only to have it done but to spend that time together), and am paying for their hotel rooms the night of the wedding. We are paying for the groomsmens' hotel rooms as well, and will get them a little bottle of good liqour to have waiting in the room. I have no idea what the BM and MOH dresses will look like, since I told them to pick out something they wanted to wear, so jewelry wasn't going to be easy to do. They are all coming from out of town, so it makes it a little less expensive, and a little more glamorous.

Let''s see...

As a bm I got a beautiful sterling silver chain bracelet w/my name engraved on it. I wore it a lot for a while then stopped... it''s a bit in the way at my work unfortunately (lab) but I do like it

I made my bm jewelry w/one of my bm who does a lot of beading, and I copied some styles from creme de luxe, which I can''t afford... I don''t know if they''ll wear them again, but they''re real pearls and sterling silver, so maybe?? I won''t feel too bad if they don''t, really, bc it was pretty cheap to make them!

I want to get them some silk jewelry rolls to put the jewelry in... I ordered some cheap ones off lillian vernon but they looked so cheapy that I sent them back... I''m thinking of picking some up in Chinatown...

I also got them monogrammed pashminas, the wedding is in April in SF, so it gets cold and their dresses are strapless, so I thought it would be nice. I hope they can use them again, but if not, I got them uber cheap so I don''t feel too bad about those either!

Plus I''m taking them all the lunch and for mani/pedi the day before...

I really like the idea of a personal letter to each of them, I think I will do that. I wanted to get them all something individual too, but I can''t think of anything "good" and I''m running out of time... sigh.

flopkins- if you dond''t mind me asking, where did you get the pashminas??

i found the perfect color at Bijoux Turner (they are at the airports) and they were ONLY $10 for the knockoffs. i bought one for myself while on our vegas trip before our proposal. it''s the exact color and price i am looking for, but there are no stores anywhere around...

I actually am giving my bridesmaids a whole slew of stuff. They are all getting spa gift baskets from things remembered that include a robe, some lotions and bath salts, and a little trinket box, I also got them tote bags (monogrammed with thier first initial), and pink champagne flutes (I was thinking we might use them at the reception for them, but I need to find an equivalent for the GMs... ).. then my MOH''s got VS fine fragrance samplers and the other two BMs got the VS little garden splash samplers..

WOW- such great ideas! I''m definitely filing them away for future use.

I''m probably going to go with one or two REALLY nice items instead of a lot of little stuff. I like the pashminas and the initial necklaces from Tiffany''s. My gals and I are all pretty low-maintenance, and prefer simple elegance.

THANKS for the ideas!

I only have my sister as my MOH, and she hardly wears jewelry at all, so getting her something to wear to the wedding was out.

I found this awesome bracelet at Tiffany''s and she''s getting this from W and me. Also, I found a gorgeous pearl frame that I love, and sort of matches my tiara.

I also had a girl here at work make some blue/brown thank you journals to give to my mom, FMIL, and Grandmother - as well as some customized calendars.

I''m only having one bridesmaid... my Matron of Honor (one of my sisters). I got her a silver rose necklace.

And since I''m doing porcelain flowers instead of the real deal, she gets to keep her pretty little rose bouquet too. Pic is below... hers will be smaller, and pink.

She doesn''t live in town though, and I want to get something for my "honorary" bridesmaid, a best friend who lives in town and has been helping me a bunch... but she''s SO hard to shop for! She''s like Rachel on Friends... I usually give her gift cards and/or always a gift receipt!

I think I''ll be doing pashminas, too. In basic black (they''ll be wearing red dresses) so they can wear them often. It''s the kind of quality item that my friend is too poor to buy and my sister is too cheap to buy but both would really appreciate.
