I found a gemstone that I love on brilliant earths website. I suspect it is way overpriced. I LOVE the stone so I reached out anyways requesting photos/videos. I’ve reached out 3 times now and they keep telling me that they will send in a request but nothing ever comes of it. In their most recent reply to me, they stated that they can’t guarantee they can get photos and videos because many of their stones are held with 3rd party vendors. This got me thinking; I wonder if another more reliable vendor could get me that stone and possibly for a better price? Does anyone know of another vendor that might have access to the same inventory?

Stones from them are almost always overpriced, and their colored stones are usually pretty low quality. I'm pretty sure you could find something better for a more fair price

If it has a cert, it is most assuredly available elsewhere. If you post it the PS'ers can sluth it out for you.

Yes they are always overpriced. There customer service is awful to. It’s actually a pretty unique color and cut and I can’t seem to find anything similar. The closest I found was a spinal that was much larger.

It would help if we got a photo of the gem or something similar.

Have you checked gem2000?

I’m not going to post it unless I decide to place it on hold.

I would suggest checking with a local jeweler tomorrow

if you buy it - I can’t wait to see. Curiosity intensifies.
If you end up choosing not to buy - please post it anyways.

Haha I will!

Well you don’t have to post the gem, but since we know absolutely nothing about it, like what kind of gem, size, hue, tone, etc…it’s a bit difficult to help you. It’s like saying to someone I need help looking for a certain kind of car, but I’m not telling you what it is. Instead, for example you could say you’re looking for a medium light violetish blue sapphire of 2 to 4 carats in a round cut.

Totally get what you are saying but that wasn’t my question on this thread. I was asking if anyone knew of any vendors that had access to the same inventory as Brilliant earth. I wasn’t asking for help with finding a stone.

The same kinds of gems? The same dealer sources? Not sure what you’re asking there either, but there is a sticky at the top of this sun forum with a list of gemstone dealers, and you may find what you need there. If, for example, you’re asking about a common gemstone, like a sapphire, there are bazillions of dealers. If it’s a very rare and specialized gem or gem color, people can’t really help you, because they don’t know what you’re asking about,

in taking a look at Brilliant Earth’s inventory, I don’t see anything out of the ordinary with them that would make them unlike one of many many other dealers or vendors.

ETA: The only kind of gem I see that stands out from the rest are their colored lab grown diamonds. There’s a whole subforum here if that’s what you’re looking for?

If it’s a natural stone, then I don’t see anything out of the ordinary that you can’t locate elsewhere in a myriad of places.

I think OP wants to know if he/she can buy the same exact stone from another vendor who moght be sharing the same inventory but i) is more responsive in sending additional pictures, and ii) charges a lower markup.

Then again, without further information it’s impossible to know.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was asking. I’m having a terrible time with their customer service and after a bit of email correspondence with them; I’m under the assumption that the stone is held by a 3rd party vendor. I’m hesitant to post the exact stone because I’ve had issues with other members purchasing after I post a link in the past.

We can’t help without more information.

Have you tried a google search using just the key specs of the stone? For example 1.36 Pink Sapphire, then look at the all results and images results tabs. You could also try a reverse image search on google. If the picture came from the 3rd party, it might show up on another site.

Why not just put it on hold?

I will just say this.

Never buy a gemstone that the seller does not have in his/her possession. Chances are they never seen it in person and to be honest I call that a shady business practice, let alone, lazy and predatory.
