i''m going back and forth between wine or espresso dresses from j.crew. I just don''t think I like brown dresses and black tuxes together. If I went with the wine, I was thinking the guys would wear navy. Can they wear navy w/ the brown dresses? i thought it would look better than brown and black. Anyone have any recent pics? Help!

can you post a pic or link of the dresses?

I personally would do brown tuxes with brown dresses if the shades were close enough...if not would brown and navy work? I''m not that good at color scheming, but that would probably be better than brown and black, although for me I wouldn''t notice the brown / black pairing b/w the BMs and GMs because I would think "oh, tux = black, ok" haha

I posted something a few weeks ago on this topic! We had chocolate BM dresses, black tuxes, men wore gold-ish vests.

Worked out nicely

This sounds like a great idea. That gold will really help to break up those dark colors and is highly attractive with brown.

I think navy blue and brown do go great together most of the times, but I don''t like the idea of a navy tuxedo in this case. When it comes to the navy blue and wine combination, I think a navy blue tux would be good, but for me, I would want a very dark, almost black navy blue.

I''m obsessed with Chellebelle''s groomsmen brown tuxes.

OMG, I am so in love with that wine color! So pretty! I also love the brown (I'm biased, my bm's were in brown

). I think brown tuxes would look good.... or maybe black with a different colored vest (brown? champagne?).... and I've never seen the brown and dark navy pairing, but that may look good too. Okay, I'm of no help here. lol May I ask what your color scheme is? And when you're getting married? My girls were in brown dresses and the guys' suits were a tan color with brown vests/tie. I don't know if this is formal enough for you or appropriate for the season, but ours was a summer wedding and I thought it turned out well.

Here is a pic, I'm pretty sure it's blurry, but hopefully it'll give you an idea....

Hey there Majupa,

I leeeeerve the wine colour. But the brown is nice too. Again, I''m thinking you probably can''t go wrong either way. Also, I think when a brown is chocolatey enough, it looks great with black (better than with navy). The wine would go well with either brown or black, but I think, again, better with black. And gold would got with either as an accent.

I wasn''t sure about this either--i had brown DM dresses and the guys ended up wearing black tuxes but with a light mocha vest that accented the BM dresses perfectly and tied the look together.

My sister (who is my style go-to person) described it to me like this: black is neutral and is a backdrop to other colours--it does not need to be ''matched'' to other colours. Brown tuxes are ''in'' right now--but i am guessing not as timeless

To see what my wedding party looked like, look under my post: "A few more Jas12 wedding pics"

I had the same problem. BMs are wearing the espresso jcrew dresses (whitney) also and the groomsmen are wearing black tuxes with an espresso vest and champagne colored ties. I took a BM dress in with me when we picked out the tuxes. I think its going look great with our fall transition theme
