I finally got ahold of the antique guy here and he doesn''t have any OEC or OMC over a carat in size so he referred me to someone else who has one 1.5 transitional and a 1 carat oec. This is all I have to look at? I mean, there''s a huge difference in size between a 1 and 2.5 carat stone... apparently the old stones are getting snapped up. Hmmmm.... I was really counting on the opportunity to see some of these stones in bigger sizes.

How much time before you have to return the cushion you now have?

Cehra, sorry your search has been so frustrating. Have you checked out www.singlestone.com? Lots of honkin'' old cut stones there.

oh yes they''re gorgeous but I was hoping to see one in person... isabel, I have time but I want to see some stuff... I''m calling around since I have time tomorrow to shop etc. and I haven''t even found anyone around here that has a 2.5 carat ideal cut round.... ARG!! one place had a "signature" cut 2 carat but it had extra facets and IME since I''m looking at chunky cuts to begin with, if I''m going to look at a round in living color I want one that''s at least a traditional 57 facet... I looked at a 2 carat the other day and it was so ugly... so horrible... JI1 the guy said he wouldn''t even sell it it was so bad but in my head I was thinking, "then why did you have it on display in your window?" lol The place today made it clear that I''d have to more than double what I spent on my OMB to get a 2.5 carat round... and I just went along with it but there''s no way in hell I''m spending 30-50k on a 2.5 carat! I feel like I have to *lie* to these people to get them to show me what I can compare with the vendors here! oy! I''d hop on a plane and spend $500 to fly somewhere to visit a PS vendor and give them my business in a heartbeat, but I want to narrow this down and I feel like the next step I want to take is to see a 2-3 carat H&A type ideal round so that I can see what round perfection is truly all about and then try to determine where I fall between the gorgeous fancy cut shapes and the stunning round brilliant perfection. If performance is negligible in my eyes, I''ll keep my stone. It really is gorgeous. BUT I want to be sure. I am dreading calling the othe rhalf of the phone book... oy... quit telling me I need VVS1 clarity and D color!! Just what cut do you have!!!!!!!!??????? "cut? it''s a round cut" ::headsmack::
