I was shopping at the Burberry boutique inside a Bloomingdales store and was so disappointed with a Novo check bag I saw. Inside the bag was an ugly polyester white tag that said "Made in China". There was a weird spot on the outside of the bag and another place where the color was sort of odd, looked like a manufacturer defect. The worst was that on the outside, where the seams me.et up was just terribly done. The plaid checks did not match up, they just randomly ended whereever.

I asked the sales associate about the bag and told her my concerns. I bluntly mentioned that if I wanted a Burberry that looked like this, I knew where to buy one - in Japantown!!

I thought about it later and I do wonder if somehow a fake one had made into that Bloomingdales. However, if that is the quality that Burberry is making I sure don''t want any part of it.

Anyone else notice a quality problem with Burberry?

HI:

Actually I was rather turned off by the look and feel of the bags too--just seemed diminished in quality over product of just a few years ago. Incidentally, the Novocheck cotton dress I bought two years ago was made in Italy, while the silk chiffon dress I bought this season was made in China.

As an aside, while shopping recently for a LV Roxbury bag, I was surprised to see that, that style was actually produced in Spain. While looking the bag over, it reminded me greatly of those bags you buy on the street in Spain, it really didn''t have the finish of the Suhali and other models (I own) that are made in France. Or didn''t to my eye anyway. I decided against the Roxbury afterall.

cheers--Sharon

Beacon, I dug out my Burberry bucket bag that I''ve had for at least 5 years now and looked it over. Every detail is pretty perfect; the checks line up; the seams are good, etc. The tag says Made in Italy. What a shame if Burberry is producing inferior products. I''ve always loved their stuff but I''m not buying it if it''s crap!

I also found this video (From TPF) interesting in regards to fakes finding their way into department stores http://www.wcnc.com/video/news-index.html?nvid=157479 You never know, I'm sure there are unscrupulous sales associates out there who switch out bags too.
