I want to compare three corundum with same size, cutting and almost same weight.

A 0,55ct burmese Ruby - with a lot of rutil visible with 10-20 magnification - so maximum low heat treatment - maybe the best gem I have!
A 0,62 ct hot magenta Sapphire from Sri Lanka - heat or not - don't know!
A 0,61ct pink Sapphire from Sri Lanka - eyeclean - heat or not - don know!

Really nice comparison. The ruby, round pink sapphire and trillion are my favorites. Since they are all so vibrant in pictures I bet they're much nicer in person! You have such a great collection and appreciate that you're sharing it with us.

They are all very nice, thanks for sharing!

Wow, your ruby is gorgeous, Marlow. That color! I think I have to agree with you - I think it's your best gem. However, I haven't seen your whole collection. :naughty:

Thank you for sharing! Do you have any plans for these beauties?

Beautiful colours; they do not need a large size to be noticed from afar.

No plans - the ruby will never go and the sapphires maybe if I find a good home.

I think these hot pink/magenta sapphires are a good alternative for a ruby! That was the reason to compare these 3 stones.

They match in size and cut - so maybe it is no bad Idea to look after these sapphire instead of an included ruby - the color is similar to the stones in that fantastic book "Mogok Myanmar" from R. Schlüssel - look at page 216 Nr. 3,6 and 7.

And there is no ban in the USA.

Can't blame you at all for holding onto the ruby. I would too if I were you!

Definitely. I think so too. :) It always helps to see things side-by-side.

If you ever decide to find them a new home, the cushion sapphire looks dreamy. ;)

How would you set this one?

It is 0,62 ct - EY with textbook fine rutile needles - so low heat or unheated.

I'd want to set it in a simple yet timeless setting. It doesn't need diamonds or any other stones; it shines on its own. I've eyed this setting for awhile and have wanted to do something similar, but I haven't had a "rockstar" stone to do it with. But yours is more than fitting. ;)

If you are not constrained in budget, I would halo it to give contrast and finger coverage. My second voice would be a three/five stone.

Not bad ....

But diamonds..... it is a small stone (5mm) so some more "help" could be awesome...

haha If you go with a halo, I vote micro halo.

How to set this little sapphire... :D

I tried to make a picture of the fluorescence ( strong red ) - no chance!!!
