Hi everyone, I posted this dress last month...needless to say, I think about it day and night and tomorrow I''m going with two BMs to order it! The dress lady has emphasized that Casablanca can make small changes, if desired - so I am going to pay extra for a lower back, and ask about changing the buttons (at one store, they were like crystals whereas at this store, they are fabric-covered buttons.)

My wedding is 6-26-2010...since I have plenty of time...what do I do with the dress when it comes in? Leave it with the store, with an alterationist, or at parents'' house? I''m hesitant to leave it at the store b/c its sort of in a bad part of town and I''m terrified someone will rob the place and steal my dress

When do I have it steamed/pressed?

Any other last-minute words of advice for ordering?

The dress is stunning and really nice on your figure!

Regarding where to keep it...I think it depends on where you're doing your alterations. If the bridal shop is doing them, they will probably keep the dress for you (unless you choose to take it home with the store being in a bad area and all). If they're not, you'll need to take it home so you can get it to a seamstress in time for your fittings. The seamstress who does your alterations usually takes care of steaming/pressing (ETA: just before your final fitting). I would call the shop to see what their policy is on taking it home. Good luck!

It''s a beautiful dress!
I bought my dress over a year early, I just kept it in my closet until it was time for alterations (about 3 months out), and then the seamstress kept it until I went to pick it up a few weeks before the wedding. She also steamed and pressed it as part of the alterations.

my dress is sitting in my closet until alterations time, then they will steam it for me

beautiful dress, by the way

i love this dress!

(looking for the jaw dropping emotie)

AMAZING DRESS!

GORGEOUS DRESS! Wowza it looks amazing on you!!!!!

Um. Mine is hanging on a rack in our 2nd bedroom (in a bag). The other place I was considering leaving it was my dad''s house in a closet. Yeah. But I didn''t have the option of leaving it anywhere else...

PERFECT dress for you!!

I can already visualize your OCD dress trying on sessions. My advice...buy those huge boxes of latex gloves at Costco.

What an incredible dress! It looks awesome on you!!!! Wow, girl!
I bought my dress two months ago (14 months out!), and am lucky enough that the bridal shop is holding it until alterations. They have a separate vault that is sealed off in their shop where they store all of the dresses they''re holding for brides.

I think that dress is one of the most stunning dresses I have ever seen.. and your figure is amazing!!!

Looking forward to seeing how it looks with your alterations

I think you look beautiful! Congratulations on finding your dress!

It looks amazing on you. I left my dress in the shop until a week before our wedding. If you don''t want to do that, I''d leave it at your parents house.

my dress is also hanging at the shop until a week before the wedding. this is because the dress stays insured as long as it''s at the shop. if I bring it home and there''s a fire or break in (not likely but you never know), I''d have to buy a new one. then again, if the shop has a fire or a break in, they''d order me a new dress... just have to hope it doesn''t happen the day before I pick it up!

in your case, I would say take it home. I think you will feel better about it.
