Hi all,
I need some recommendations on where to get a hair cut in the DC area - preferably in the NW. I haven''t lived here that long so I have no idea where to go/what to do. I''ve never been to a "real" salon before (usually I just go to a place that''s equivalent of supercuts or something - but not a chain because it''s in the small town where i''m from). I''d really like to do something new and fun (I have very straight, pretty thin hair that just hangs a lot of the time and I''d really like to add some body and depth) so it would be nice to be able to talk to a stylist about what might look good. I''m willing to pay a decent amount - it''s my splurge this month - but I don''t want to pay TOO much. Anyway, any help or input would really help. I''ve done some googling, but there are so many choices that it''s hard to sort thru!

Thanks!

sorry ladies- I''ve lived in the dc/metro area all my life and
don''t have any recommendatons.

There are so many to chose from; I think that''s the problem

There are some good salons in the Dupont Circle area. Are you on the Knot? If so ask that question and I bet that you will get plenty of responses.

Hi there,

Spalon in the Dupont area, ask for Tom.

PR at Partners in Old Town, ask for Joanne

ETA: Andre Chreky is VERY expensive.

Okyo Salon - at 29th and M in Georgetown.

Hands down, the BEST haircuts I''ve ever had!! (Compared with big name places in Philly, NYC and London).

It''s a little pricey - $80 per cut, but i''ve found that I don''t have to go too often, even with my shorter hair because their cuts grow out really well. When I didn''t live in the area, I would drive 3 hours to get my hair cut there.

My stylist''s name is Guven. He''s a genius.

My office is a block from Andre Chreky and I have been there for spa services, but not a cut. They''re ALWAYS running late and it''s kind of chaotic there.

How about for color?

Okyo does great color too. It''s definitely on the pricey side, though.

Thanks everyone! I''ll have to make a decision soon but this definitely helps. It also helps that I actually know how to get to most of those places (i''m still learning dc lol). thanks again.

LOL...I had to work in DC for the first time last week and it took me 40 minutes to find the highway back to Virginia...you''d think you could just reverse the way you came to go home, but not in DC...:) i was so lost

good luck!
