HI DF:

In general--where would you go to by a gently used men's gold Rolex? Someone close to me is interested but I must defer to your knowledge. I don't know if he knows which model he wants--but "likes" the President. Could you provide some direction or links to your choices? Much appreciated.

cheers--Sharon

HI:

Thanks! How 'bout without a diamond bezel? I realize it is competition, but...

then i'll sell it for 9K.. ;)) tell him it is a double quick set model. in other words...you can set both the day and the date w/o needing to advance the hour hand.
btw; that bezel will cost b/t $1500-$1700.

DF--How do you know if a seller on timezone.com, etc is legit? Alternatively, maybe you happen to be selling what I'm looking for :)... a 36mm Datejust, rose gold and stainless oyster bracelet, white face with roman numerals. I have found a few postings but should I be nervous wiring the funds to the sellers? How do I authenticate?

Sorry to hijack your thread Sharon and hope your friend found what he was looking for!

there are many legit seller on TZ.com just be sure that they are a long time member of the forum. talk to them over the phone about the watch that you are interested in and ask lots of Qs. don't just wire $$$ to any Tom,Dick or Harry out there, and if the price sound too good to be true...well, you know the rest... ;))

HI:

DF, my DH is still wanting to buy another watch: plain gold with leather strap--and I wondered what you knew about Breguet. It is important to him to buy from a manufacturer that makes their own movements and parts. Can you provide a list of watchmakers that do this?

Many thanks.

cheers--Sharon

HI:

Ok DF--where are you?

I am wary of buying a watch online--IWC or Bregeut (sp). That siad, who would you recommend?

If I were to fly somewhere for these brands--aka Vegas or LA, who would you recommend?

Online pricing seems much better than local....

cheers--Sharon

DF, Really? Somehow that surprises me!

Sharon, out of all the lines you are looking at, I say JLC. I was invited to a dinner thrown by traditional jewelers for JLC once (complete freako invitation...I don't think they had any idea that I could afford it, lol. There were only about 20-25 people at the dinner, including TJ's staff!) and I just LOVE their line up. I like Zenith (obviously) but it doesn't have that certain je ne sais quoi like the JLC does for me. Zenith is more undervalued, and therefore a good buy, but if I had the $$$ there are plenty of other watches I'd go for.
