Hi Deja: I remember that you posted somewhere, in one of the threads, which I can't seem to find now, what you consider to be the 'golden ratio' of a round brilliant-cut diamond. Could you please remind me what those numbers are? I have a new project on the go and these are the cut proportions of the diamond that I just purchased. (Am waiting to find out if it is, in fact, mine, although I'm told it's available): 57/40.7/34.5. I don't think it's the 'golden ratio', but hoping it comes close... (I'm a perfectionist!)... Also, would you mind casting your eye...or anyone else who's got a keen eye...on this stone to let me know if, in your opinion, if it's a sparkler? It's a 2.8 ct - 9.01-9.03 E VS1 HPHT. Price $896. I'm all about getting a good price too...Been having the worst time trying to secure a stone that's actually available and has all the right elements, including price... I want a simple setting, so the diamond IS the star...and because it's a bit of a whim purchase, I wish to keep the cost low, without sacrificing beauty/quality... Please let me know your thoughts.. :)

Hi, togal!
So sorry for the delay...I missed your thread until just now noticing it.

Yep, a well cut diamond with clean crystal and a 40.7/34.5/57 combo will be just fine.

I start my searches with proportions and angles narrowed down to the following ranges:

Pavilion angle:
40.6-40.8°, ideally with a 43% pavilion depth

Crown angle:
34-35°, allow some wiggle room depending on how well cut it is

Table width:
I prefer 53-56%, but I'm not opposed to an *extremely* well cut diamond up to about 60% table, but usually limit to 57-58% max

Stars:
45-50% preferred

Lowers:
75-80%, with a preference for thicker arrows from shorter 75-76% lowers

That's great information. Will copy and save it for future searches. I was able to secure the diamond I ordered. I think it should be a good one. Thanks again for the info.

I hope it's ok that I comment in here (since it was directed to Deja!). Are you not on Reddit anymore? I went to message you! @DejaWiz

Hi, breanne!
Reddit wrongfully flagged my account as spam, so I've got some messages submitted to get it fixed, but Reddit support has been the worst social media support service I've ever dealt with...only automated replies and no actual human interaction for support.

Those buggers. Well, I'm glad you are still around! I may want to consider another stone(s), so going down the rabbit hole again will be fun!

Sure thing - whenever you're ready, just holler!
