hello, all!

I''m looking into purchasing a rather large amethyst. The two I''m looking at are both step cut and in the neighborhood of 20 ct. I know this sounds really huge, but I''m a big girl so I can pull it off.

Anyhoo, one measures approx 17mm x 14mm x 13mm deep. The other is approx 19 x 14 x 10 deep. Both of them would look beautiful as a pendant, but I''m concerned about the depth.

Can anyone show me a deep pendant (or even ring if that''ll work). I''d like to see the settings and how far they stand up off of your neck.

TIA!!

Hi Somethingshiny! LadyA is probably your best best on those extra large size stones.

I have a 10ct amethyst pendant that is 15mm x 11mm and it''s pretty deep. I tried to get a side view for you but I can''t contort myself that far! I don''t know if this will help or not........

Haha!

Michelle, that is a lovely pendant!

SomethingShiny, I''m not sure I can picture a pendant larger than Michelle''s. It looks like a great size for a larger pendant to me!

HI:

I have some VERY large gemstone rings...does that mean I should post pics?? I love them and they love me.....

777-LDY, thank you!

Hi somethingshiny :) I''m extremely fond of giant stones since I do have giant hands! LOL I''m serious. A 3-4 carat stone on my finger almost disappears.
To make a long story short, I''m posting some pictures of my giant ring collection just for you

That first aqua is amazing, reminds me of the ocean....

Oh yay!!

Thanks, ladies!!

Canuk~ That aqua is amazing, love everything about it!

Gemnut~ I wear a size 10 (on my Seinfeld Man Hands)! Your collection is awesome! Thanks so much for posting them all.

enbcfsobe~ That necklace is gorgeous! The amethyst I''m considering (if I could convince DH) is a large step cut, too. I just love how they look in large carats!!

I look on ebay quite a bit (almost never buy), and have noticed that you can get some really nice amethyst on there that are quite large. It''s a stone that is pretty inexpensive, almost never heated, and cheap for the size. I''ve seen concave cuts frequently in amethyst as well.

enbcfsobe, your necklace is just beautiful!

Gemnut, what fabulously gorgeous and huge gems! WOW!

Thanks, cinnamon. I''ve been looking on ebay for those reasons, just haven''t brought myself to be able to do it....
