Well whenever is good for you just let me know. I can certainly hop on a bus! I''d love to go into NCL proper or the MCentre...
Lisa

I have just started some medication for my panic attacks and I feel a little bit spacey just now. It should pass and hopefully I will soon be well enough to meet up and do the shops!

I do hope you feel better! I did read that thread...the one with Linda of the Pad avatar...

Hi Maise,
Feeling spacey on these meds if the are SSRI''s is a common side effect. hang in there and it should pass in a few days. If your symptoms get worse see your doctor

They are SSRI''s Kate. I am not too bad today but for some reason I have been feeling way more panicky than normal. I really don''t like taking medication so this is really traumatic for me. I need them so I am persevering. The more I take the more my brain will realise they are going to help me and I think I will be less anxious.

Maisie the symptoms you described are quite common. Often what happens is the medication causes some minor side effects eg. nausea or dizziness but to an already anxious person that is intolerable which makes them feel more anxious even panicked. It''s like you are at your threshold of coping and something so tiny can flip you into panic. When your anxiety decreases and your threshold stabilises these smaller things will be water off a ducks back truly

.If you can find a psychologist to help manage some of these feeling and the associated thoughts it would really help you.Take care
Kate

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me Kate. Its so reassuring that these feelings are common and will ease off. I really appreciate that you told me. You are a sweetheart!

The things you are going through are bread and butter for my practice. So any probs or queries I hope i can help

My panic is worse in the morning. I take my tablet at lunch time and I think I am just flapping about that. Once i''ve taken it and I know there isn''t anything I can do about it I start to calm down.

I can''t wait for all this to pass so I can start to feel better.

Maisie again these feeling are common. But there are things you can do. Deep breathing and exercise are no matter how gentle are two really important tools that help control panic symptoms. They do this by ''turning on'' the parasympathetic nervous system in our body. This is the ''calming'' system of our body. If you can find a psychologist in your area that does CBT they can instruct you but it really is very easy to do.
Could you buy a relaxation CD or I can recommend some CD''s that you could get on the Internet.
A few minutes of these a day would go along way to helping you manage and control your panic feelings.
Take care

I have been reading this thread Maisie and if I had a hugs emoticon I''d have posted it. I hope you can persevere and the meds will kick in and you feel better soon!

Maise, I too hope you get to feeling better. And I ditto Kate on exercising. If you don''t have a treadmill, I would recommend getting one, it doesn''t have to be real expensive. I have a very basic model, which was less than 400.00. Walking briskly is very good for over all well being.

I have a step aerobics video which I used to do years ago. I was planning on doing this with my daughter as we both need to get fit! I want to be healthy in mind and body. Thanks for taking the time to help me Kate, Ellen and Lisa. I really appreciate it. Hopefully I might drop a few pounds too - wouldn''t that be fab!

Maisie I have no experience with what you''re going through but I just wanted to pop in to say I''m thinking of you and that I''m sending you lots of well wishes.

I do those workout videos sometimes too and I feel like a right plonker leppin around the living room but the energy boost makes me feel fabulous afterward

I think your positive attitude is fantastic, and that you''re fab just as is
