After a couple of unsuccessful online purchases, and a long L O N G day of shopping I am beyong frustrated and I need your shopping expertise.

Right now I''m somewhere between a 16 Regular and a 16 Plus (35-36 inch waist) dress size and I''m attending a late July wedding in upstate NY (way upstate, near Buffalo). The ceremony is at 4 PM on a Friday afternoon in a church with a reception following after. I can''t seem to find anything cute and appropriate enough to wear.

I started off by buying a ton of dresses from alight.com to find they were either of very poor construction or just not as flattering as I had hoped. After that I bought a beautiful dress from kiyonna.com that seems to be a smidge too tight on my tummy pooch and a couple of inches longer than I''d really prefer but I can possibly make do with this one if I have to (and with a really really helpful undergarment eheh).

I went to a local Dress Barn today and found I could fit in to some things from both the Misses and the Woman''s side of the store but nothing quite tickled my fancy. I did find 1 snakeskin print dress that was rockin, but it didn''t leave a whole lot to the imagination where my funbags were concerned so Nate of course put his foot down immediately hehe. I''ve checked the Fashion Bug Website and the Lane Bryant website and neither have anything that looks appropriate for a 20 something year old attending a somewhat evening type wedding.

HELP!!

Are there any good online sites that I don''t yet know of that offer Plus Size social dresses that are styled for someone under the age of 70? hehe I''m also willing to wander in to any number of B&M stores if anyone has any recommendations of that type.

For reference...this is a link to the dress I currently have hanging in my closet: http://www.kiyonna.com/plus-size-clothing/Dresses/15060906 I love the lacey/feminine aspect and the fact that my arms are covered without really long obvious sleeves but even though the site *says* they have a larger size in stock, apparently they are bold face liars.

Any direction would be appreciated :)

No specific dresses in mind right now but some places to check out online ... JJill, Anthropologie, Nordstroms (pretty decent plus size assortment online), Garnet Hill (goes to 16/18), and, believe it or not the Gap had a good season for dresses (and is having a big sale I think).

If I see anything specific I''ll post!

Here's one from JCrew's summer dress shop that I sent to a friend of mine as a possible "wear to her brother's wedding" dress. With a wrap or a little sweater bolero thingie it could be awesome, especially in the brown silk. Sizes up to 16.

Here is a modest chiffon dress from Nordstroms ...

OK, I seriously thought Gap was the type of place where I would have to pretend to be looking for a fragrance if I was brazen enough to step through their doors. I''ve got to admit I''m amazed that they have clothing that I could theoretically squeeze in to. Awesome suggestions :)

Gracias!

holy crap, that espresso j crew dress is delish. Makes me hungry just looking at it hehe :P

Here's a zingy little number ... not sure if it's "evening" but it's fun!

This one is bold but I kinda dig the retro edge.

Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft both go up to 18. I usually have better luck finding the larger sizes online, but occasionally find them in the stores. You can return to the store, so I dont mind ordering online. Good luck!

Deco, the first one is so similar to this one below from anthropologie! I''ve been eyeballing this dress for weeks, it''s SO freakin'' cute.

I noticed a sign today in Ann Taylor today and noticed that they carry up to size 18 now. When I was buying some things I did see some 16''s and 18''s on the racks for some really lovely dresses that aren''t too old, and would be nice to wear to a wedding. I would call Ann Taylor.

Some of their more formal dresses are in the link above. As long as you don''t wear the BM''s colors (call and ask) you''d be fine. Or you can if it''s a less formal occasion, you might look at some of their less formal dresses.

Also, some small alterations at a local dry cleaner will help with fit.

The Avenue has some cute dresses that aren''t very expensive. I bought one there a month ago to wear to a wedding and though I''ve had better-made dresses, if you''re only wearing it a few times, it''s fine.

If you are not super-busty the jcrew 16s could work. They have a great return policy if you wanted to order several online to get more size options (but beware "final sale" items that cannot be returned). I have jcrew sophia and one of their low back halters. The sophia in particular is a robust dress that will look good on lots of people. Their halters are hit and miss and DO NOT offer a lot of boob coverage/support.

They also have dress-specific size charts on the regular price page - so you can see that the dresses have slightly different fits and you can aim for one that would accommodate your size.

Here''s Sophia:

Hi Heidi!

I JUST went shopping yesterday (Saturday) for a wedding we''re going to on Friday. I know I"m late in finsing this post but I want to help. I went to Talbot''s Woman and found a super cute mid-length pleated skirt with really fun colors. I also bought a black tank top and cardigan to go with it. I couldn''t find the one I bought on their website but all of them are really nice. Talbot''s is having a sale right now. NOt everything is discounted but a lot is.

check it their website: www.talbots.com

I found it! It''s really comfy and I LOVE it.

Here it is (the skirt that is): http://www1.talbots.com/talbotsonline/product/largeritem.aspx?BID=&item=K80787&h=M&pfid=1456

Hey, have you tried ''Bluefly.com''? They have seriously cute stuff for good prices and their sizes run up to 20. Because it''s overstock and samples, they don''t have every dress in every size, but you can search by size and it looks like they have some cute and appropriate dresses in size 16. And it''s flat rate shipping, so you can order a bunch and try them all on.

Do they have a Torrid store in a mall near you?

www.torrid.com (the casual dresses looked better than the glam ones, which seemed icky)
