I last emailed him on 9/1/10. This was his reply " Please be patient, it has been mailed priority mail yesterday. It is a beautifull gem."
I was going to wait until tomorrow to contact him. It's sad to say I don't to be scolded again. Priority mail in the US is usually 2-3 days. There was the holiday in there though.

lol, that sounds exactly like Bob - I've gotten that same email from him too. I don't think he meant to sound gruff, and if it doesn't show in another day or so, I wouldn't think twice about sending him another friendly inquiry.

Despite, I have emailed him every three days or so,
a brief and friendly message.

In fact, today I was considering letting him know I was going to ask PayPal for my money back.
I paid for the stone Aug 11
I will probably just send another "Hey Remember ME?" email today though...

I think it's a shame.

Well, I did get my "fascinating" little pear Chrysoberyl today from Tan
That came all the way from Thailand or something....
It's plump and pretty and glimmering in a sparkly way that makes
me REALLY happy!

Just a little thought however..
It's nice to hear that others are getting their stones, having him cut them stones,
sending them stones without them even paying, I'm truly happy for you

I guess I'm just not feeling the love 8-)
 
I don't blame you. That is a long time from when he said he shipped. He included his phone number on his email to me. Wondering if anyone bothers calling him.

Well it did not come. I am tired of rushing to the mailbox only to find junk mail. I sent him another email (he did not reply to the last) and told him I paid 8-16 and I feel I have been patient. If the stone is not received by 9-16 I let him know I will cancel my payment. (sigh) I have learned something from all this. I have found customer service is really important to me. I am going to stick with vendors I have had luck with. I have contacted Gene and hope to be working with him again soon.

So sorry, Cemrn. ;( There does come the time where waiting too long is unacceptable too. You've given him fair warning about canceling the order which I hope will spur a reply ASAP.

and in fact, I have had wonderful customer service from each
and every PS-recommended vendor and artisan that I have dealt with thus far
except one.

Maybe you will get your sapphire by the 16th, let's wait and see !

It’s been over a month ago which is unacceptable. In this case, since he hasn’t replied and you haven’t received the tourmaline, you’ve every right to cancel your transaction and get your money back via PP or CC. I don’t blame you for being fed-up over the whole thing.
 
I know who NOT to ask me to cut me something now! This is terrible, totally unacceptable and very unprofessional. I could see a few days or a week if ill, but a month?

Let me update. I have not recieved my stone. Last week I told him I needed a refund if the stone was not here by Friday. I asked if he had a tracking number (he never answered about that). He repeated that he sent it and if I didn't receive it he would trust me on that. He would do whatever to make me happy. I emailed him Monday asking for a refund to my paypal account. I didn't realize I could cancel my transaction....hmmm should I just do that? What do you think? I feel he will refund me but it could take forever. Isn't there a time frame for refunds with paypal? Anyone know?
 
It would seem from numerous recent experiences that consistency and customer service of any acceptable standard are not a priority of Bob's. If it is something genuine (as far as illness), he should still have a friend or relative email the waiting clients to notify. However as mentioned it appears he is still doing business, which would lead me personally to not wish to purchase from him - shame, as he has likely made a decent crust off the reputation he had growing here. :|

I hope those waiting receive an explanation or their money back asap - my advice would be to lodge a claim and go elsewhere, a month is much too long.

I have heard rumours that he takes forever to refund customers so in your case, I’d cancel the transaction to end future headaches.

you can send the refund link if you pay via paypal which is valid for 60 days. I want to say that paypal will help you resolve if the claim is within 45 days but that should be double checked with the paypal website. I know their policys have changed a bit so its worth checking them out.

if paying via credit card on paypal, in my experience its best to go through the credit card instead to get the refund.

I checked it is 45 days with paypal. So I have a little bit of time. He is checking emails today as he wrote me and told me he is sending a refund and wanted to verify some information. Oooh shiney when is the last time you tried to contact him?
