Hi,

I posted a week or so ago about my new 1.52 FY cushion that my DH gave me for our 12th wedding anniv. I've been speaking to my regular jeweller in Singapore and basically what I'd like is something similar to lvnut's:

However, my jewellery said they're having trouble locating yellow melee

. I also tried to explain what milgraining is and they don't seem to understand (not sure if that's because they're not familiar with the English terminology or the actual concept itself). Thanks very much again to lvnut and Gypsy's as well as everyone else for your lovely recommendations. I wanted to incorporate both lvnut and Gypsy's recommendations but in the end I've decided to go with something similar to lvnut. I'm just too frightened that this jeweller would mess up the milgrain if they don't really know how to do it, if I were to insist.

So I was thinking I might try Canary Diamonds (I think that's what they're called, the one located in Delfi Orchard, that you've recommended a few times to other PS'ers). I don't suppose you might know off-hand how much such a setting would cost? The FY cushion did not cost a lot of money and I'd be reluctant to spend several thousands on the setting.

Appreciate it if you could perhaps give me a guess? I'm currently in Shanghai and won't be able to see them until I'm back in Singapore. Or perhaps you could give me their tel no and the name of someone there you'd personally recommend? I could call them and get an estimate. Thanks very much.

Hello,

Yes, I totally recommend Canary Diamond at Delphi Orchard. The setting like LVnut''s with two rows of melee halo should not be a problem at all. Depending on the size of the melee, I reckon the setting should be anywhere from SGD2K to over SGD3K. Their workmanship is very fine (HK "see-fu"s and they have invested in a laser setting machine or something so their milgraining comes out very fine. The should also be able to source for melees - I had no problem getting them to source for pink sapphire melees. I think I might have mentioned before, they could even source a red diamond and a purple diamond for a gentleman here (unfortunately, I only saw the gia cert, didn''t get the chance to see the actual stones, that would have been quite a sight).

They are fabulous, absolute darlings. The lady I work with is Bonne and sometimes I work with the owner, Mr Lam. Try calling them - I will try to get the number across to you via admin because I am not sure if it is ok to post contacts.

Warning: once you step in, you might not look back at your regular jeweler (that''s what happened to me and my girlfriends!)

Hi, I forgot to mention that the setting cost should vary with your ring size too, and whether you prefer gold or platinum. Platinum will of course be higher. So far the setting I have done with them have not exceeded SGD4K in white gold.

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed reply. I''m very happy to hear that the setting should not cost more than 2k-3k, and am glad to finally be able to get a chance to work with them. I know you''ve been raving abt them and I can see from PS that you have beautiful jewellery. I''m very excited!

I wear a 4.25 on my LH, though this will be my RHR sized at 4.75.

I normally have my jewellery set in WG. I prefer platinum but it just doesn''t make sense to spend that much money given I''m constantly changing my mind!

I think it should be ok to quote avvendor''s details on here, though of course I wouldn''t want you to do anything you''re not comfortable with.

Thanks so much again, Simplysplendid.

No worries, sweetie. SS has sooooo many beautiful rings and loose stones. Check out the Coloured Stones section.

I'm sooooo green with envy. Ok, only kidding, SS. I wish we could have met when I was living in SG. Would have loved to drool over yr AMAZING collection.

Phoenix - Just wanted to let you know that I was able to get some clearer shots of my yellow diamond ring - I will post them in the other thread over in Show Me The Ring. I also wanted to let you know that the yellow and white diamond melee are all one pointers since I had forgotten to let you know that as well! I also tried to capture different angles so you can see the height difference from the main diamond to the two different halos.

I also took pics of the earrings although they are not the greatest. Took a couple more of the tsavorite since so many people seem to like it - although I wish I would have gotten the dust off it first!

I hope I am making sense. I took my painkillers from surgery a couple of hours ago, but since it is the middle of the day I have gotten a few phone calls and since I couldn''t get back to sleep I decided to try to do a photo shoot and see if I could get any better working the camera!

Thanks Phoenix and Amethyste. Yes, I do enjoy coloured stones as there is so much variety and so much to learn about them.

Phoenx, hmm.. not sure why you haven''t received the message. Anyway, here''s the number, 67363383.
