Hello.

I am working on a project right now with Daniel M and Caren for one of their stock argentium silver halo bezel sliders (akin to the below pic, but with a peridot round).

Caren has sourced two quality 6mm peridot stones for me, and I will be posting pictures of them tomorrow to see what everyone in CS thinks of them!

The only question I had as of now is, though, is does anyone (including tara2056 and herekittykitty) have opinions as to the quality of the diamond melee stones in Daniel M's pieces? Caren informs me that "our standard melee is G-H, SI1 (full cut) however we can use whatever you want...we should be able to get single cuts if that's what you prefer and/or other another quality melee but we would have to price all that out for you."

Since I'd like to keep the total price of this project as close to the original budget of approx $250+, I'm leaning towards going with their standard melee. I just wanted to see if I could hear from any of you as to whether their standard SI1's look quality? I can only hope that their melee is not like the sometimes-seen "frozen spit" in LOGR pieces, SI1 is fine with me, so long as the stones do not look too bad (i.e., no cracks, dull stones, heavily included stones) etc.

Well, any advice from you would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Cherokee! Their standard melee is pretty darn good if you ask me. If you'd like, I can post some macro photos of the melee they've used for my projects. I tend to go with single cuts because I prefer them, but I have some that's full cut too. I'll go take some pics now.

Looking forward to seeing the pics of the peridot!

Thanks much, Freke!!! I'd love to see your pics! Knowing Daniel's reputation, I had thought that the melee would be pretty good. In stones that small, I also tend to prefer single cuts, but I imagine that that would cost me extra $?

And thanks in advance for your advice about the peridots! Caren should be sending me the photos tomorrow hopefully. I will then create a new thread to see what y'all think. Thanks again. =)

Good news! Single cuts are CHEAPER! Woot!

I have some pics. I took one so you can see just how small these stones are.

Items from top to bottom:
1. Whiteflash ACA ideal cut signature melee and pink/lavender spinel (ridiculously tiny melee) necklace
2. Earring drop with 2mm and 3mm single cut melee, sourced by Daniel M and Caren (I had supplied some, but Caren was like, "They aren't good enough" Lol. She was right)
3. Lavender spinel with full cut melee sourced by Daniel M and Caren.
4. OMC melee ring

One more pic:

1. Whiteflash ACA ideal cut melee, blue sapphires
2. Full cut melee from Daniel M and Caren
3. OMC stones again

No matter what, the stones are going to be pretty tiny. Single cut melee has bigger flashes of light/sparkle, but some people prefer full cut. Personal preference!

Cherokee1979: I've always used DanielM's standard quality melee in the projects I've had done with them (1 halo ring + 2 sliding halo pendants), and I've been very happy. The diamonds are white, bright, and certainly not like anything resembling frozen spit! So I think you're perfectly fine going with their standard offering :) I, too, wondered what the melee would look like for my first project with them, but after seeing it, I knew I wouldn't ever have to upgrade it if they all turned out like that (and they have). All of my pieces have the full cut melee, though I might look into single cuts at some point in the future.

Overall, I think DanielM has some rather nice offerings for the money, and I think you'll be pleased! (I can't find *anything* with a diamond halo, whether in silver or not, for $250 at my locally-owned jewelry stores.)

Oh my.... Freke... Your pieces are stunning! I love the color combinations. And your macro photos are just as awesome (they look like some of Kenny's amazing close ups)! Thank you so much for sending them to me. :appl:

I am so glad to hear that the single cut stones are cheaper! When working with Caren & Dan, did they give you a decreased price for the single-cuts? If so, that would allow me some "wiggle room" to go with one of their nicer, sourced 6mm round peridots! Do you think I should ask Caren about this?

Well, quitting time at work for me here. I will try to log back onto the computer sometime after I get home & play with our child for a bit. Thanks again!

Re: Calling Tara3056, HereKittyKitty & owners of Daniel M ha

I'd just ask them for quotes for both single cuts and full cuts. They've always done that for me when I asked, but now I don't even bother, I just ask for single cuts.

And my photos are nowhere near Kenny's, but thank you for your kind words!

Re: Calling Tara3056, HereKittyKitty & owners of Daniel M ha

If the price is the same, I'd swing for single cuts every time in the very small sizes. They sparkle "better" because they aren't as busy as the full cuts.

Re: Calling Tara3056, HereKittyKitty & owners of Daniel M ha

Thank you all very much for your replies! Also, thank you tara3056 for your advice... I was hoping to hear from you!

I will email Caren right now to get quotes on the single-cut stones vs the full-cut. Like you all, I also tend to prefer single-cut with such tiny melee, and if they are even cheaper than full-cuts (fingers crossed 8) ), I will just go with those.

Also, I am hoping to get from Caren today the pics of the two 6mm round peridots that they sourced for me. I will then be sure to post them immediately to see what y'all think! Thanks again!

Hi, HKK. Thanks for the link! Your pendant is stunning, and I love the color on the spinel!

Just as a quick question: Since your stone was essentially 6mm, did Daniel just put it in his stock halo setting?

Also, is your pendant in Argentium silver? It looks really, really good! Thanks!

Cherokee1979: Total "aside" comment that I meant to make on your other thread when I noticed what you'd said, but.. I also have a Ritani Endless Love engagement ring, LOL, and originally was drawn to the DanielM sliding halo style because I thought it would compliment my e-ring (and it does). So I'm loving that you found this style for your wife! :D

I think it was his stock setting but it is white gold.
