Hi ZhuZhu,

You made the following comment in this thread.

I have purchased a few pieces of ''solid 14K jewelry'' from China suppliers in EBay, and each and every one of them were tested as base metal coated by ''rhodium looking thing''. Base on the marking alone you will never guess they were fakes.
I was hoping you can share more information about which suppliers you used. Many of us purchase regularly from eBay china sellers such as LOGR and Lan.Bo4 without any problems. I know the few settings I have tested turned out just fine.

Yeah, I''d sure like to know who to avoid. I''ve only had one LOGR that needed to be resized (it was close to the size I ordered, but a little overly generous) and I''m sure my jeweler would have said something had it not been 14K.

Stores like LOGR and lan.b04 have reputations to protect, and there''s no way they would have the business they have if they sold fake gold. It would be so easy to discover the gold was fake by any jeweler, and it would be posted all over Pricescope and on their feedback if the gold was less than what it was stated in their listings.

This is Zhuzhu checking in!
I purchased those fake 14k gold pieces a long time ago. I am not sure EBay still holds these records but will sure check and get back to you!

Hi Charmy,
I am sorry but I just checked but since the item links have already been removed and many sellers are no longer registered members, I really don''t remember who I purchased them from! What I remember is the items being too good to be true, like a 14K chain with sapphire vintage pendant for less than $50 USD or something.
Sorry!
Zhu

No problem - thanks for checking! I just wanted to make sure we don''t buy from them.

Could you post links for LOGR and lan.b04? I tried looking for their EBay store but couldn''t find them. Thanks!

that lanbo link isn''t working - did they go out of business?

You can try this one linky

I've actually had a few issues from ebay china sellers as well. I've seen at least one seller that was just completely bogus. I saw him using the same photo for a few of his different auctions and I traced that photo to several different sellers. So it was pretty unlikely he had that many identically cut gems. For that matter I think I've seen the same photo used for several auctions as different materiels, i.e a 1 ct Blue Spinel was also a .7 ct Tanzanite. Lots of 'astroturf' in his feedback I'd guess to bump his reputation. I personally got one guy banned, but I think I saw at least a few out there after some research. It didn't seem like ebay china was doing much research on their own. They did ban the guy after I complained but between the time I complained he sold another half dozen items.

Haven't checked recently to see if things were cleaned up but I know I would have been leary of anything from china last year when I last checked.

Edit: Just went on ebay for a sec and doesn't look like much has changed

Compare these two items:

It is very common for these sellers to use the same set of photos for different listings. I have no problems with that as long as it is for semi-mountings, assuming they are to be made the same. However, I would be bothered if the listed item has gem stones in them but still the same pictures are used for different items. Check out these two listings by LOGR, the emerald looks too good to be true anyway.
