Hi guys :wavey:

Hope everyones holiday was nice!

I'm on the hunt for a camcorder. I went onto the best buy website and there are 7293847392874 kinds and I have no idea where to begin and which one would be best for me. Any suggestions?!

AN, go to http://reviews.cnet.com/?tag=hdr;brandnav and check out their recommendations and reviews. This is my go to website for electronics.

Alright sooooo...

I would use it for recording things on vacations so I could later upload onto Youtube. I also wanted to start my own Youtube channel so I really wanted a camcorder for that too. I know that the Flip camcorders are good for up to an hour...is that long enough?

soocool...will try that site in a bit, thanks so much :D

I carried a Flip for a while but found myself pulling out the smartphone to grab "fast and organic" content. I'm someone who likes to experiment with more settings than Flip offers too, but that's just me.

I helped a friend shop a couple of weeks ago and he got the 2010 Flip HD for his wife. It comes in a 2-hr version which is worth the extra money - and you can use AAA batteries for that matter. The Flip sharing software is extremely easy to use. It does a great job of keeping things simple. She will be able to point-and-shoot the kids, then upload them immediately for grams & gramps to enjoy.

I'm more of a still-photo guy so have been very Canon & Nikon-centric. Canon also makes some nice hand-held camcorders and I found a number of entry-level Panasonics that seemed to have a lot of bang for the buck too. If I can find my napkin-notes I may return to share their model numbers. Of course by next week there may be a whole new avalanche of models.

Thanks for the info!! I will look into those as well :)

Alright so, I checked out consumer reports as well as what soocool suggested and I bought the Flip HD Ultra 3rd Generation. I should have it by Wednesday. :)

I have the flip HD camcorder & it records two hours. The quality is EXCELLENT. Very beautiful picture. Also, I like it because my kids can use it (during the summer, they would run around with it for hours). I use regular batteries instead of the rechargable b/c I don't like how it sticks out of my computer when it's charging. lol

Great! I'm really excited to use it :) I checked out some on youtube and the quality looks absolutely awesome.

sorry i left you hanging yesterday, AN. i think from what you describe the flip will be a great choice. that's what DH & i have (it was a wedding gift), we let a friend use it at our wedding, so we have lots of video from that & we took it on our honeymoon. it was perfect. i took the camera, he took the flip. the storage was never a problem for us. i took my computer in case we needed to upload (can't remember if we did or not). then when we got home, i put some of the shorter videos together & sent them to our parents & such. i hope you enjoy it!!
