Hello Everyone!

I''m not sure if this is the right forum to post this question, however, I''ll try anyway! I would like to use a cameo earing to make a MOH gift for my sister. THe cameo earings (the other one has been lost) were given to my mother by my great grandmother to wear at her wedding. My sister has always loved this piece and wants to mount it in a ring. I thought it would be special to do it for her! I found some picture of a pair of cameo earing that are almost exsctly like the one I have. I don''t know anything of their quality. Here is the question: what type if setting could I use for this project, and can this even be done at all? (the backs are identical to the ones in the picture)

Thanks!

Hi, Blueberrygirl! What a lovely idea!

I''m sure a custom mounting would be no problem....and maybe (just guessing here) a semimount designed for a cabochon stone (rounded on top, flat underneath) might be adapted if the proportions of your cameo are calibrated.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will jump in!

I do have one thought...is your cameo shell or stone? If it''s the former, it would probably be pretty fragile for a ring and might be better suited as a pendant. Just a thought...

Keep us posted on this wonderful project!

Thanks for hte reply, Widget. I am almost certain they are stone cameos. I also think my sister would like a split shank type setting, but I guess I''ll have to keep researching.
