Hi guys,

Long story short but I have a platinum solitaire band engagement I have sentimental attachment too but I really like the pave look. Would a jeweler be able to add pave diamonds to the band? Does anyone have any experience with this?

It is best to have it specially made because it has to be thick and wide enough to both hold the melees safely yet be structurally strong.

I know this isn't the question, but with the right ring, adding milgrain or engraving can enhance a setting in a lovely way. If your ring would work with either of those maybe you could try that before having a new ring built. Just a thought.

It really depends on the band currently. I'd probably just get a small pave band made instead though.

I agree. Just ad a pave band to the band and you've got a classy look and that extra sparkle.

I think that's a great idea too, adding engraving.

do you have a pic of your ring?

I know this thread is years old, but I have a similar question and the internet offers conflicting information, as usual.

Can a jeweler add more pave diamonds to a band that already has them? I would like to add two more diamonds to my current 2 mm band, one on each side. The ring is cast, if that makes a difference, and the metal is 14K white gold. I can't afford to remake the whole thing, alas.

It may be more cost-effective to have a new pave setting made and your diamond reset, then keep your original setting as-is in a safe place in order to preserve the sentimental factor.

Can they.
will they.
should they.
will you like the looks of it in the end.

im sure you are finding conflicting information -
because a lot depends (imo) if the jeweler you find to do it, wants to do it in a way that doesn’t look like someone with a toy solder gun got a hold of it.
