Can someone explain the difference between

a semi-mount and a halo setting? Are they basically the same? Are there different mounts for halos? Which mounting for halos are the best?

I thought a semi-mount was an empty setting with some sort of sidestones... like a plain tiffany style solitaire wouldn''t usually be called a semi-mount? Someone correct me here if I''m wrong!
