I’ve just stumbled upon a *pixelated* cut tanzanite which I have never seen before.
Is it possible to find other stones in this cut?
it looks like it may have been cut that way to hide impurities in the stone - but perhaps it’s just to maximise light play with a stone that would otherwise be *blah* in colour and movement. So is it clever cutting or an illusion?
Either way I think it’s a lovely piece for the price.
Please check the video in the link as the pictures don’t do it justice.
Also noted they only show a front profile.

look up “opposed bar cut”. You should find some results.

I’ve thought about get one in sapphire for my Mr for a ring. I think he’d love It.

Oh @Polished1911 that first tourmaline you posted is just stunning. The colours are so so gorgeous. Thankyou so much for sharing and for the tech term.

I recently bought a pixelated/opposed bar cut; I love the look but the stone is just too small (in other words, I want much larger version). I don't think it's an illusion you can definitely see the bars turning on/off but if I was buying another one, I'd go for bigger.

I love that! Would you say that size might be good for a men’s band?

Rabbit hole! Rabbit hole! *swan dives beautifully*

Wow those are cool. I used to see tourmalines (especially the long tourmalines) cut in that manner but I personally don't own any. I think it would be col to get a long stone and make a pendant out of it.

For ref here are some photos of the 6x3mm stone with a a 2mm, 3mm and 4mm bands. I have small 4.5-5 fingers.

The stone isn't looking it's best under kitchen lighting bit hopefully these give you an idea of perspective.

All sold too - except the Aqua. Some lovely examples there. Thanks for sharing.

He will cut to order so you can simply ask for what you would like! Assuming he has the rough obviously...

I'd love to know your plans for setting it, or if you have another thread for it.
It's giving me north-south 3-stone with elongated french cut vibes haha.

For a setting I thought either a skinny rose gold stacking ring or set into a silver bangle but for the time being I just take it out to play with it :)
