Can this be restored?

I find something endearing about this piece and can picture it as pretty amazing if restored… the question is… can something this far gone be restored? I’ve heard David Klass does this kind of work? Any idea what it might cost? Thanks for the input! It’s a ring but cropped in hopes of not losing it to a lurker.

I'd say DK could redo the engraving to bring it back to life. My guess would be ~200

For sure. I have a bangle with engraving that got pretty worn. I had a local company re-do it but I’d bet DK could do this for you no problem. I’m not sure what he’d charge though.

Yes, I had a ring re-engraved (DK) and it was either 200 or 250. I can’t remember which.

Beyond DK who has done several engraved rings posted on PS, there are a couple more threads here on PS. Search engraver on PS. There are also some great ones in UK I’ve seen on instagram. This is very possible.

I think it was last year - it was recent not years ago.

Question is: is there any part of the piece that shows the original relief of the engraving? Otherwise someone is just flying blind and it's almost like starting from scratch. I can't tell what that looked like originally.

Thanks all! I have no idea what it originally looked like so I’m passing on it. Too bad, it was probably beautiful in its original state!
