I live in Boston and I am planning on having my wedding in CT where I am from. I would like be able to go for a weekend in August to look at reception halls, but I''m not going to be getting married until Sept. or Oct. in 2007. Will they let me put a deposit down that early?

Heck yes, companies will often book for the holiday party 5 and 10 years in advance.

I just booked my Nov. 24, 2007 wedding at the beginning of July. If you know your day, know where you want it and have the money for the deposit, I say book it! A little over a year really isn't that much in advance : )

It depends on the venue, but usually the answer is yes. Most venues have policies as to how far in advance they will book and should give you that info over the phone. I''ve booked places over 2 years in advance when I was an event planner, and booked about a year in advance for my wedding. Be sure to put down a deposit, get a receipt, AND a contract signed by both parties which specificies the date and time that you booked, as well as prices for any additional services both parties are willing to commit to this far in advance (tables and chairs, dance floor, etc.). This way you''re covered in case of personnel, policy changes, or whatever might happen in a year''s time.

And, you may be able to lock in 2006 prices for everything if you book sooner than later. Most of the venues I went to would not, but ours does, which will save us almost 500.00 (2 or 3.00 per person extra for 2007 at alot of places)

Great! Hopefully we will be able to get down to CT within the next couple of weeks.

we did.

Depends on the site.. but usually yes. I ran into one site that wouldn''t..

Usually yes. If it''s popular enough, you may HAVE to book over a year in advance. For my big wedding, booking a year in advance would have perfect if you wanted some choices as to everything. I did it 10 months out and had to settle for some things cuz some areas and stuff I wanted were reserved already.

if your getting married in ct, my mom found an awesome not extremely expensive place while we were trying to find a place (we ended up sticking with a montana wedding thou so more of her family could go)
it''s called "La Mirage". I would have got married there if we did go with ct for a spot (lived my life in ct till i came here-mt for the girl)
this is there website:

so anyways..
Yes..if you have a date in mind already you definatly want to book at least a year in advance (unles your not planning on waiting that long). I started lookin about 14 months in advance and found a couple of places to be already booked. I got lucky thou, and beat out a couple on "tentative hold" for a place-i paid the deposit first so i got it :)
anyways, hope this information helps you. Good Luck!

Sadie, I booked my reception (in CT too!) almost two years before! And they already had other bookings!

Where are you looking in CT?

I think so! We''re in the midst of booking our November 3, 2007 wedding, we met on Monday, and the deposit is about to be put down. I am of the "It may get booked at any time" mindset, and our place is remodeling the ballroom, so prices WILL go up soon, another reason I''m very anxious to make the deposit- our prices are locked.

Ooh, you decided on a place? Which one?

Sorry Ebree, I am lame and did not see this. :) We''re going with the Radisson! In fact, my mom is paying the deposit for us, and I FINALLY got Paul to agree that this is the best option for us. So I now have to get in contact with them... Yay!
