Hi,

I bought a diamond from Blue Nile from their signature collection, but since I am unable to actually see the gem, I thought I would post the statistics here to see if any of you experts can tell me if the stone I bought is good. I will receive the stone this Thursday.

Hi,

I purchased this stone:

AGS
Report Type: Diamond Quality™ Document
Shape and Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.93 - 5.96 x 3.66 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Color Grade: AGS 0.5 (E)
Clarity Grade: AGS 4 (VS2)
Carat Weight 0.8
Fluorescence: Negligible
Comments:
Table: 56.1%
Crown Angle: 34.4
Crown Height: 15.1%
Girdle: Faceted, 1.8% to 4.5%
Pavilion Angle: 40.6
Pavilion Depth: 42.8%
Star Length: 51%
Lower Girdle Length: 75%
Total Depth: 61.5%
Culet: Pointed

This also came with a GCAL report that listed brilliance and symmetry as excellent.

So, is this a nice stone?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help Lorelei. I really hope that it sparkles! I wonder if anyone else has had a good experience with Blue Nile without being able to actually see the stone.

It''s harder with BN than with other vendors that give you pictures, etc. But it can be done. I have a very nice H&A ideal cut bezel pendant from BN that I am very happy with. Looks like the stone you picked has major potential, just make sure it checks out when you get it. Since it''s an AGS0 stone you are probably totally fine! It''s digging around the GIA stones that is harder with BN.

Thanks Neatfreak, that is comforting. After researching for a little bit, it seems to me that many tend to rank cut as the most important feature of a stone, with color being second most important. I chose an AGS stone specifically because they are more specific about cut than GIA. It is nice to get some reassurance! I really can''t wait to see it!

You got it. Cut is really the most important thing, it is what makes a diamond a dazzler or a dud.

It came this morning!

I have to say, at first glance I was very impressed. The jeweler seems to have done a superb job setting the stone into the ring.

I didnt have time to take pictures yet but I will when I get home so I can show it off!

I will be proposing in late July, so I will have to keep it a secret from my GF until then.

Here are some pics! They don't do the stone much justice because my camera isnt too great, but it gives a look at it. The stone has such fire! I wish I could capture it on my camera.

Here is the link to the photos:

Pictures!

I bought my Fiance''s ring from them sight unseen and can not be happier. To be honest it was much more than I expected. Even though they don''t have a policy that will allow you to upgrade you do have a decent chance to return if you aren''t happy. Congratulations on the purchase!!!

Made a video of it to show off the fire. The focus isn''t great at times but boy does it sparkle!
