Can you help me decide?

Hi everyone,

im looking for an opinion on the stone in this certificate I’m completely devoted and desperate for an OEC thats not too expendive. I’m looking to set it into a miligrain bezel setting that I can wear daily. But, will this stone show the characteristic flashes that OECs do? And, will it sparkle??

I personally would not purchase that particular stone; clarity is I1, symmetry is only 'good'. I don't know what your budget is but surely you could do better? Or save up a bit more money?

OECs can't be judged solely by the report. We'd need to see photos or videos.

I agree, we need to see photos and/or videos. My first concern would be that it is an I1 with a feather determining the clarity grade. I wouldn't let "good" symmetry alone stop me from considering it. That's not so uncommon in an old cut. But again, photos/videos are needed and I'd probably want more information on the feather as it could be an issue with durability.

Ouch. What would be a reasonable price for ~.50 ct charming OEC? AND, where is the best place to find it?

I'm not an expert by any means, but going by the photo, I think that's a gorgeous OEC. Reports are not as helpful in judging OECs/OMCs as going by your eye.

I agree, that's a pretty stone and should be eye clean at that size. And a nice H color. I would talk to the vendor about any concerns about the feather.

OECs definitely need to be decided by eye and personal preference. It looks nice to me, and if you like the faceting pattern then I'd go for it
