Can you see a huge visual difference?

Hi I am deciding between two round diamonds and was wondering if others would be able to tell a huge visual difference between the two stones below?

Stone 1 (0.9 ct): 6.12 - 6.16 x 3.82mm
Stone 2 (1.01 ct): 6.36 - 6.40 x 3.99mm

There is a $1.2k price difference between the two stones so I'm trying to decide if I should top up just to reach that "1 carat" weight. All other specs (colour, clarity etc) and diamond proportions are equal between the two stones.

Most people can't tell a difference until a 0.2-0.25mm increase in diameter, so I would say yes, this 0.24mm difference will likely be noticable.

There is an 8% difference in face-up surface area.

Huge = no

There are badly cut 1-carat diamonds that face up smaller than the 0.9 ct. I would not pay $1200 for the size difference. But does the wearer care about it being over the 1 carat mark?

One could notice but I dare say, most wouldn't. The difference is very small, whereas the price difference is quite big. You might stay with the smaller and pay less or go bigger than Nr. 2 and pay a bit more.

Both are probably a tad steep/deep.

I wouldn't pay $1.2k more for 0.24mm difference. However, would you consider other stones than just these two? I remember you were a bit underwhelmed with the 0.9ct when you got it. Perhaps we can help you find a less deep alternative with more edge-to-edge brightness.

Agree with this!

Although I personally would notice the size difference, especially at a close viewing side-by-side, I don't believe the visual impact overall is huge.

If you felt underwhelmed by the 0.9ct, there is a good chance you won't be impressed with the 1ct IMO.

If I recall correctly, you got a D SI1 stone so I'm assuming you are color sensitive? I'm very color sensitive but if I wanted a bigger stone, I would personally consider dropping to F or G in color for a more substantial size increase.

About the edge-to-edge brightness, super ideal cut stones tend to look bigger for their carat weight, so getting the best cut stone could make it look more impressive overall.
