Hello, Canadian here who purchased a James Allen engagement ring online last year. Wanting to get the ring resized through them but the process of receiving the ring back after seems to be a huge hassle. We paid sales tax of almost $600 when it cleared customs at time of purchase and now James Allen appears to be saying that we may have to pay it again if we resize through them? The email states "prior to shipping please contact your local customs office in order to inquire about temporary exports and/or refund of duties and taxes".

I was just wondering if any Canadians here have sent their JA ring for resizing through them? I don't really want to void the warranty on the ring by going through a local jeweler, nor do I want to be on the book for paying another $600. TIA!

Hopefully, FedEx will be the carrier for this project. FedEx handled import / export customs documentation when we shipped internationally. We shipped previously delivered sizing/adjustment journeys as a "repair" and everything else was taken care of between the shipper and the govt.

Simplest way is for the vendor to send a label with instruction for you to return via FedEx as a repair and to ship back to you via FedEx.

Where we found interruptions. confusion and time lost was when the client wanted to make an end run around established process and the possibility of govt. intervention by devising their own plan for the trip at which point the outcome became unpredictable.
