I''m posting this at 3:27 am Atlanta time. I am having a complete bridal anxiety moment! I cannot sleep. My heart and mind are racing. It''s less than thirty days until our big event! I''m thrilled, yet terrified! I keep thinking about the stupidist things that are out of my hands.
We''re partially moved into our new house, but not completely... the moving has me a little anxious too.
How does one become a zen bride? I wish that I did yoga!!!!!

Your thread caught my eye-- I am an occasional insomniac--hmm...does that make sense?!

It''s still early, not quite midnight here in Hawaii. I hope you can get some sleep soon, if you''re not already asleep by now. You''ve got some amazing, exciting days coming! I hope everything goes wonderfully smooth, both moving into your new home and with the wedding. Congrats on the new house and on soon becoming a Mrs!

tybee,

i feel your pain. i posted a similar message right at or about the 30 day countdown...up until that point things had been just fine, relaxed, etc. but then that morning it hit me. boom. i felt like i had a pile of things left to do, felt like they wouldn''t get done, finally felt the stress about the guest list, money, the logistics of a destination wedding, and oddly the fact that all eyes would be on us. maybe just the pressure of being the focus of so much attention.

i don''t have a lot of good advice for you, but you seem to be a calm, collected and cool bride and i''m certain that you will return to your "center" with or without yoga. for me, i just went about crossing the more important tasks off my to-do list, kept telling myself that what is left are details that honestly likely matter only to me, and went away just last weekend, taking a complete hiatus from anything WEDDING. it was the perfect getaway and i came back on monday excited for the wedding, not nervous or stressed. i''m sure that the pressure will return, but we''ve just got to keep it in perspective. i''ve been following your plans and it really seems like it''s going to be an amazing, amazing time!

good luck and i hope that you find your sleep

Hey Tybee,

I'll type quietly so I won't wake you. (Hopefully you finally got to sleep...) You have a lot of wonderful, exciting things happening in your life right now with the wedding & a new house, but there's much to be done for both. It's a lot of change all at once too. And change, even for the better, is usually pretty stressful. That's perfectly normal to have some anxiety & a few sleepless nights. That said, it sounds like you're on top of everything. I'm sure you'll get it all done with style & grace.

Thank heaven it's summertime & you have some extra time in your schedule to devote to wedding planning & moving.

I found an article you might find amusing. I actually bought a set of these things last week, but couldn't bring myself to put them on. Maybe I should give it a try...

I hope you're feeling better about everything...

ETA: I think I freaked out at the 30-day mark too, like you & lovelylulu. I'm sure there's evidence of that somewhere on PS...

Just stick to your list, take one thing at a time & everything will come together.

Thanks Leila,
I''m usually an excellent sleeper! I could sleep through a freight train!

But lately I have anxiety about the wedding. NO not about the marrage, that''s going to be wonderful. I worry about shallow things that are really no big deal. I get my brain spinning about stupid things like my dress fitting (I''ve lost a bit of weight this summer--from the stress---and I''m worried that my dress is still going to be too big.) Should I cut my hair this week (my hair is really long now, I don''t know when it got so long, I''m still not sure how I"m going to wear it wedding day... maybe I should leave it long)? When should I get my eyebrows waxed? Argh!

It''s so lame, right? Anyhow, I finally did get some sleep, though, thanks~ AND I had wedding anxiety dreams all night! The photographer never came, the ceremony wasn''t actually in the place they said it would be, my guests had a miserable time! ARGH!

I think I''m having the last few weeks freak out!
But I''ll survive

Aw,

Thanks Lovelylulu and Brightspot! It''s great to know that I''m in good company, REALLY good company!
Yes Lovelylulu, being the focus of so much attention really makes me want to lose my lunch.
I think getting away might be key. I wonder if I can fit that in anywhere?

Brightspot, you cracked me up with the toenail article. I really think I will try those things! I''ll have to remove all the paint I used to create a faux-nail, but I think I''ve got a stub down there! I''m sure the toe isn''t the last of my accidents to mess with my beauty regime! I''m staying away from all sports (except for running) now hopefully I don''t run into a tree and break my nose!

Thanks all, your words mean a lot to me. What would I do without P.S.?

LOL, Tybee, I did a Google search to try to find the faux nails I bought & came across the article instead. Apparently they''re quite the rage. What crazy things we do in the name of beauty...

And I was totally obsessing about those things you mentioned before my wedding too (when to cut hair, wax eyebrows, etc. & the hope that a horrible, disfiguring accident didn''t befall me before the wedding...) Are you going to have a pro on the island do your hair & makeup for the wedding?

Hi Brightspot,

No, I''m not going to have a pro doing my hair and makeup, maybe that''s where some of my anxiety is stemming from. I did do a MAC makeup trial, and was really pleased with the results-- I bought all the stuff, I just need to practice.

My hair is an issue. I really don''t like wearing it up, for many reasons, but basically because I feel like I look more femine with it down, maybe I can add a little curl to the ends and leave it at that? I doubt myself constantly, now, though!

I am having my (not) bachelorette party this weekend, though. It''s a (not) party because I didn''t want to do all the traditional foolishness, I just wanted a weekend away with my girls. We are going to stay in a lake house, drink wine, talk, and hang out. Maybe my girls can practice doing some hair stuff with me then.

Maybe this weekend away is just what I need.

Here''s my makeup trial picture,
can''t I just wear my hair down? Any advice with what to do with it?

What about the style wear you sweep it across your forehead, have a bit of height at the back and then it goes straight to a little flip...I know I am not explaining it well BUT I can picture it (big help)...hard since I assume you are getting married outside and I do not know what your dress looks like, so I would not want the hair to be too formal or out of place...

those dreams are like the first day of school dreams where you dream you are standing in the middle of the hall the first day of school and you are in your underwear! I am sure it is all going to be great, and you are just concerned about the things you cannot control, even after all your planning!

diamondfan,
Do you have a picture of said hairstyle? Sounds kind of pretty.

I like diamondfan's suggestion for your hair. How does your hair typically perform in humidity? (If it tends to go frizzy, it might not be wise to go for a straight style for your beach wedding.) I like the idea of half up-half down so it's out of your face, but still looks feminine. Are you wearing a veil?

What about something like this?

I was happy I wore my hair up as it was cooler, but, then again, I like to wear my hair up. You should do what makes you feel most comfortable. You have lots of time to do your own makeup trials until you find a look you love. (You know, when you're not moving & stuff...

) Oddly enough, the fact that I *was* planning to use the island pros made me stressed as I didn't know what to expect. I guess it's just stressful either way.

For reference, here is Tybee's beautiful dress:

Your unbachelorette party sounds like such fun! I hope you have a blast!

No veil Brighspot,
maybe a few local flowers, though...
Okay, just came back from my FINAL FITTING! I''M ABOUT TO POST PICS!

i had multiple days of the same problem...and almost always it was because i was oing wedding stuff to close to bedtime. i know its not always possible, but maybe give yourself a 2 hour prebedtime ban on all things wedding? that helped me (well, when i actually adhered to the ban

).

as forhair/makeup woes -- i personally love your makeup look! very natural and very pretty! having a pro does not gurantee happiness. i didn''t like my makeup and my hair started unraveling shorthly after the ceremony
38.gif
. oh well, live and learn. as for your hair, i think curls half up half down is simple, easy, and always always prety! some celeb wedding hair stylist guy siad that is the most universally flattering style.

breathe sweetie! everything is going to be beautiful!
