Hi Guys,

Some of you may remember that i had an Asscher tension setting ring made in October 2012.

Here is the link:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-tension-coming-my-way-soon.180591/

This has been an interesting few months of having the ring.

Originally the jeweller mention that a true tension is not something that he was comfortable doing and will add a bar under the diamond to join the ring itself. This will stabilise the tension. That made sense. However, when it was done, i thought it was too thick and i had it reduced in thickness to what you see in the above post. I thought i had a profile picture of the bar before we thinned it down. But, this is the only photo, and it is hard to determine.

I had the jeweller thin that bar down so that the diamond would not pick up as much of the WG colour. Well, that is my thinking, but when i now think about it, the diamond should reflect light not absorb from surroundings; but then again when you have warmer diamonds, YG or RG would be the better gold to choose.. Hmmmm...another post for that discussion, for sure.

This is the picture of it.

and the hand shot

So, roll on 2 months and then I start to notice that the diamond was getting loose in the setting!!! Oh NO!!! So, I promptly called the jeweller and told them about the situation. They have now redesigned it so that t is to the original thickness that they had made. When they showed me the picture, I was cautious as the diamond was picking up the colour of the white band and it looked like there was a grey square in the asscher.

Well, it arrived yesterday and i couldn't be happier!!!
I think, as we all know it when taking pictures, the lighting makes a difference; the position of the camera etc, etc, etc. There is no grey square from the setting filtering through the diamond.

I can only attach 4 photos, so i will add the new refreshed ring!!!

Oh good! I am so glad it turned out well! :appl:

Now here are the photos on the hand. these are taken on the iphone, so the quality is not that great. There is still that grey square in the photo, but there isnt one IRL- just the beautiful steps that you can see....

The moral of the story- trust in your jeweller's knowledge and expertise!!!
I felt so embarrassed that i had asked them to thin that bar down and that may have been the cause of the loosening of the diamond!!!!  Eating humble pie!

But- so glad that i have the diamond back on my finger!!!! I knew i missed it, but i had my rolling rings to keep me occupied!!!!

I love happy endings, whew! When I first opened your thread I was HOLDING MY BREATH because I remember how much I'd admired your ring and I could only imagine how you'd be feeling if something went wrong. Thank goodness everything went RIGHT and you have it back safe and sound!!

Oh, and thanks for the reminder to TRUST OUR JEWELER's EXPERTISE (what's the point of researching to find the "best" jeweler for our project & then proceed to make design decisions that can place our stones at risk  ).

yes it is part of the house and contents insurance. though i think i am now at the limit of $10,000. anything more, i will have to get extra insurance... though i have read somewhere a while ago about Q insurance that specifically insurers engagement rings or jewelry here in AUS,and they will insure for cost of new or similar. i cant find that thread...

You must be getting excited- when is your flight- next week??????

I'm so glad this all turned out for the good. I gasped when you said your asscher had came loose. I was so scared the next thing you was going to say is that it was GONE!
