Hi, I live in Central/Northern NJ and was just given an engagement ring from my grandmother. I don''t have any real use for it other then trying to see what it is worth and maybe selling it, because my current girlfriend already has had "her perfect" ring picked out for the last 3 years. My luck right ! I was wondering if anyone on this site new of any Buyers/Pawn Dealers who would be interested in looking at the ring. It is a Great ring, no-flaws, perfect cut and color. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more then happy if you could reply with names and places to try out. Thanks !

Do you think your gf would be interested in wearing it as a right hand ring? Not that you have to give it to her now, but someday since she has a setting picked out for her e-ring? Or is there a female family member that would be interseted in it? It would be a shame to give up such a nice family heirloom.

I thought about that idea a little bit at first. But I honestly believe that it would a better idea to at least get a good idea at what it would be worth to me before I make a final decision. I will never count that option out, but I still want to get a good pricing from someone in the area.

I''m with njc....absolutely, get it appraised, but the sentimental value is priceless (my bf and I will likely use a family stone and re-set it.) Pehaps you can reset the center stone into a pendant she can wear for your wedding day? Or a RHR? Obviously up to you--find out what it''s worth, but my personal preference is always to hold on to family pieces

You might have a little girl someday who would treasure a piece of jewelry from her great-grandmother.
