What songs are you using for your processional and recessional? I am two months from my wedding and don''t have any of this finalized. I am beginning to get nervous!

i don''t know what my girls will walk down to, but i am walking down to ''hymn'' by jars of clay. FI isn''t crazy about the idea, but i''ve looked forward to it for 10 years and i''m not giving it up without a fight!!

yeah.. we are 1 month away from getting married.. and all i have picked out is the song I''M entering in to... "Beautiful as You" by Jim Brickman & All 4 One. It''s beautiful and i love that song!

and... i don''t know what else i''m gonna have in the ceremony. i should really get a cranking on this. =P

sorry, i am not any help!!!!

Prelude: Enigma Variation No. 9 ''Nimrod'' - Sir Edward Elgar

Processional: Playing Love - Ennio Morricone

Recessional: So Long And Thanks For All The Fish - Joby Talbot

For the ''Signing of the Register'' , I so far have:

Highlight of My Life - Dolly Parton

and I need another that doesn''t sound too strange before or after Dolly!

pandora, can i just say that i totally love that you are having dolly parton played at your wedding??

Thanks Mimzy!

I am a HUGE Dolly fan. I played this song a lot when I first met FI and it always reminds me of that.

I also think the lyrics are perfect for a wedding:

Darlin' you're the highlight of my life
You're the one that makes it all worth while
You're the one that taught me how to smile
Darlin' you're the highlight of my life

You're a part of every dream I dream
You're my love, my life, my everything
I'll never love another, how could I?
When darlin' you are the highlight of my life

Darlin' you're the highlight of my life
You're the one that makes it all worthwhile
You're the one that taught me how to smile
Darlin' you're the highlight of my life

You're the one I always think about
And you're the one I couldn't live without
And you've always been my guiding light
Darlin' you're the highlight of my life

Only problem is that Mrs Parton doesn't sound right followed by a classical piece etc - I'm looking for something I can use before as it's normal to have two pieces of music at this point in the ceremony.

Another HUGE Dolly fan here - seriously, I love that woman! Ha!

And I LOOOOOOVE the way you are having Dolly in the ceremony - I sorta want to steal your idea! ha!

I love Elgar''s music--if we ended up going the classical route, he would definitely be on the short list.

here''s what we had for ceremony music - I loved it!

prelude: Air on a G String (Bach)
processional: "Vangelis" also sometimes called "Hymne"
postlude: "Joyful, Joyful" (Beethoven''s ninth)

Are most of you having your music played by a musican or a cd?

I''m having two men on guitars - they play everything from Spanish guitar to rock and roll - we''re going with instrumental, yet still modern music - i have no doubt it will sound great!

We don''t know what we''re going to do either...and we''re still deciding whether we can get away going the iPod or CD route...I have a feeling this is going to be one of those "go crazy at the last minute" things.

Prelude- "Over the Rainbow"-- Israel Kamakawiwoʻole ("Iz")

Processional- "At Last"- Etta James

Recessional- "Brighter than Sunshine" - Aqualung

We're having an outdoor wedding, so our DJ is going to provide the lapel mics and the music.

Originally we were having an organist and more traditional music - but the organ needs re-tuning and I won''t pay for that.

So we have to go with an ipod/cd system.

At that point we thought, what the heck let''s just have music that we like...

We''re having a classical guitar...

So far, the only songs we know we want are the Swan (from Carnival of the Animals) and Air on a G ...not sure on the order they''ll be played.

If we sign a contract with the gardens I think we are going to have a string duet, quartet, or person playing a harp (harpist? wow I sound ignorant). Anyone else doing this? We are still working on selections, but I think it''ll be the traditional march and recessional.

We are having a string trio for the ceremony... haven''t decided on songs yet but I think they will be traditional. Plus, we have to have our song list approved by the church and the pre-approved list they gave us was all classical music. I like Air on a G String, Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke), and Hornpipe from Water Music (Handel).

We''re having a brass quintet for our ceremony music (pretty much the only wedding-related thing I''ve been dreaming about for years...). The processional will be to "The Great Gates at Kiev" from Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition (one of my absolute favorite pieces) and recessional will be to "Ode to Joy" from the fourth movement of Beethoven''s 9th Symphony. I''m not sure about the signing of the registry... Perhaps Clarke''s Trumpet Voluntary. I played it myself in a brass quintet years ago, and I''m pretty fond of it.

Ooo...I feel silly being a LIW and already having a list:

I added links because these aren't exactly traditional or well known except for maybe IZ's.

Prelude:
Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole- Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World link

Processional:
Blue Man Group-Rods and Cones link

In the background during the ceremony: (7 minute song-should be about the length of the ceremony if not too long)
Moby-God Moving Over the Face of the Waters link

Recessional:
Moby- In My Heart-link

I love Moby-if I could get him to come out here for the wedding I would be over the moon, but I highly doubt that'll happen, so this will all be on an ipod. The first is one of BF's favorite songs, the BMG has very special meaning to us both (he surprised me when we first went to Vegas with tickets to the show, and we loved this song) and then these are two of my favorite Moby songs.

Wow everyone has such beautiful choices maybe I should rethink this!

We''re having a harpist (a family friend) play before the ceremony (that would be the prelude I suppose). Our DJ will play the processional and recessional.
