Hi there,

For all of you helped me with trying to decide whether to take the last stone back which was round 1.04ct D colour I2 clarity, however, i was unhappy as there were what I thought were many inclusions on either side of stone turned out was only one that bounced off sites given the look of many. You could only see them if you looked under, but It still bothered me and it was a black inclusion. This is what we changed to and for all the problems the guy did an exchange pretty much across the board. Didnt cost me much to change it. There is one white flaw that is hidden by a claw and the colour well i cant tell the difference from the D that I had. These are the specs:

round brilliant 1.16 ct
G colour
I1 clarity
AGS Certifiied
Appraisal $14,600.00

dimensions are: 6.74mm x 6.69 mm. x 4.16mm (leveridge gauge)

I hope these dimensions are half decent

Is there more on the AGS report ?

no that is all that is on the report that i can see

Did you pay $14,600 or is that just the appraisal?

that is just the appraisal we paid $ 8500 for it and we are in canada

Not much to go on, the AGS report should have alot more information on it, did you get it when you purchased? Should have table, depth, angles, girdle, etc etc.

Is that $8500 canadian??? I hope not US! If it was 8500 canadian which roughly translates to US $6975...that's a bit of an overpayment for a G I1 stone of that size...I would estimate more around $5k. I recall Patty getting her G I1 for something like $5000 from Superbcert and it was a superideal beauty.

Edited to add...found this as an example:
http://www.exceldiamonds.com/diamond/94.html
It's a superbcert H&A diamond that is 1.17 D I1 and is $4700.

If that baby is eye-clean it's a STEAL! Who wants it!?

Mara, do you think Superbcet are crazy ??? Not sure the larger inclusions doesn''t show (at arm length little does, really), but...
some of those diamonds come with 4 or 5 types of pictures ! (this one does)

Here''s the definition: LINK to old thread (GIA''s and Garry''s explanation).

In the SI2, the big thing under tha table is the knot:

just checked that site and i dont know but looks like to me the price for mine isnt bad..there is a 1.08 carat VVS but J colouring and they want 6,200 for that one

Ana, I don't know! I'm still drooling over that stone for a pendant!

The images of the stone itself are sparklers and the IS image is classic SC.

Rosie, your stone is a G I1, not a J VVS2, so that isn't remotely comparing apples to apples.

The example I posted, the 1.17 D I1 is a great example because it shows that a stone the same size as yours can be purchased for $4700 US AND it's two color grades better than yours AND has an exceptional cut.

So in reality, you probably overpaid for your stone by about $2000 US if not a bit more....but I don't know if you had the option to shop online or even if you wanted to. So maybe the face-to-face sale was worth the steep markup.

But man that SC stone is sweet.

Ana,

the price of 8,500 is in canadian funds...cant get a stone that size and quality that cheap here, dont think my husband would shop for a diamond online either though. He would rather see what he is getting
