Hello all,

Well I''m engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 8 years, and we''re looking for a Chinese restaurant to hold our reception at. We live in Flushing, Queens (NYC), so we''re looking for one in that area; also, being of Chinese descent, we''re pretty much ''pushed'' to go w/ a Chinese restaurant. Bear in mind we''re not too excited at these locations, but can anyone give us opinions on these restaurants, have you ever been to a wedding there, have you ever held a wedding there, advice, etc.

The restaurants are:
- East Manor in East Elmhurst
- East Manor on Kissena Blvd.

Link to the East website is: http://www.eastusa.com

Thanks in advance for the help!

I hope that "pushed" means that you have to go to a Chinese retaurant because one of your parents is paying for the whole thing . Otherwise, I think you should find something YOU are happy with. I don''t know when you''ll be marrying but maybe exploring more options wouldf be nice. For example, if it''s in Spring or Summer, maybe a Chinese botanical garden (don''t know if one''s in the area). As for the location, the interior looks nice but I''m not excited about the exterior. Another idea would be for you to pick a location on your own and then do a Chinese theme with Chinese food etc. I don''t think you necessarily need a Chinese restaurant to honor your heritage.

I have never been to a wedding there but I have eatten there for dinner (Kissena Blvd one)! They have a good buffet! I think that''s what it''s famous for, no?

Anyway, from what I remember and the pictures it doesn''t look bad at all. I think it''s typical Chinese ballroom decor, but it''s not too over the top like other places. If you want to look around at other places there is a good restaurant Ocean Seafood Jewels (or ocean jewels seafood? can''t remember which way). My friend had her wedding reception there. It''s nothing super grand, but the food was good, the place clean, service satisfactory, and very within budget. My parents LOVED it (i am chinese too and my friend is chinese) and wanted me to have my wedding reception there too.
