I have become a colored gemstone freak since my search began for a blue sapphire...I have always loved them, and collected a few when I could. This is another stone I bought about 7 years ago... From a reputable dealer. I have since LEARNED what a window is, and I think this stone is afflicted with a window. Unfortunately, I dropped it and it got chipped.. I have wondered if it could be re-cut? Again..I know NOTHING about what to look for, except COLORS I fall in love with... I paid $400 back then, was that a good price for rubellite tourmaline? Also, how do jewelers make the distinction between rubellite and pink tourmaline? This stone measures 11.8 x 10mm. I don't know the depth... Anyone who knows about recutting, can you identify a re-cutter, and guesstimate how much it would cost..and the final re-cut dimensions. I love this color so I don't want to give up on it unless you guys say it can't be done, and done well! Thank you soo much!
