Hi everyone, I would appreciate help with a decision. I have a natural diamond 1.22 H VVS2 round brilliant center stone. It was set in a platinum band with prong set round diamonds and a matching platinum wedding band that amounts to .95 ct - they are G VS1. I am considering two options:
1. Trade in the round center stone and both bands. A jeweler quoted me $1660 total to trade in both bands and $5441 for the center stone. If I do my anniversary ring upgrade (inspo picture attached) at the same jeweler and he said that then he would give me $2000 total to trade in both bands and $6529 for the center stone. This money would go towards the new ring that has a 2.5 center radiant stone and side stones that are lab grown.
2. Only trade in both bands and spend the money on a new lab grown diamond solitaire on a simple setting. I would thus keep my natural diamond and not sell it.
I’m wondering your thoughts on trading in what I think are good quality items to have either a blingy (inspo pic) or solitaire lab grown diamond ring, as well as if the prices quoted seem appropriate to you (or high or low). Thanks!
