Wow @Gussie your place looks incredible - right out of a magazine! Love it!
Thank you! I love Christmas! Here's Opie under the tree and another vigntte with vintage Santas.
VERY modest holiday decor this year. I came down with a god awful virus at 29 weeks of pregnancy and now my son has it, so what we were able to get done in the last couple weeks is what we’re sticking with. I usually also like to decorate our mantle and these year round lanterns we have on our porch, but this year it’s not worth the effort.
This extremely stripped down tree has been called the compromise tree for 8 years running. It has survived multiple moves and was a compromise between my wanting a very small real tree and my husband wanting no tree at all before we had kids. My son has not yet asked for a real Christmas tree yet so until then we’re hoping the compromise tree will stand the test of time. He did help decorate it for the first time this year though and had fun doing it. You might find a cluster of pine cone ornaments towards the top of the tree in the second picture, that’s “a mommy, a daddy, and a baby pine cone staying close together.”

You’re so sweet @monarch64 !This post made me tear up. I love your compromise tree for so many reasons. It really just speaks to me in so many ways and I wish you and your family continued good health (once you’re over the godawful virus!) and the best holiday season ever. Honestly it’s a lovely tree (driftwood?) and I would love to have one like it in my home. Merry Christmas @sweetpea&babycorn
Thank you! I think next year we’ll try wired LED lights, to get a more “bare” look, and I don’t love that these lights are more white than the warmer yellow (nitpicking now). I appreciate that the driftwood style has stood the test of time as interior design styles seem to keep changing.i really love this tree
this style is very popular here made with drift wood
Everyone’s homes are so beautiful and cozy!

Yes it’s a driftwood that I got it off Etsy in 2015. The base cracked at some point making it a little wobbly but she’s still holding her own. I admit it’s been hard getting into the holiday spirit with this illness still hovering over me and so much to do between holidays and only a couple months until the new baby arrives, and I’ve caught myself letting it get me down. So I’m trying to be more positive and grateful that we have loved ones to celebrate with, financial means to get gifts, and the ability to create new family memories and traditions. Wishing you a very happy holiday season too!

My sweet girl "Toot" helping me put up the lights on the tree. (I love her sooo much. She is very elderly, so we're taking it one day at a time.)
Our finished tree. I've collected the ornaments for years and years, since I was a single girl in my early 20's. I write the year I buy them with a Sharpie on their feet or backs. Its so meaningful unwrapping each one and placing them on the tree. I love weird or quirky ones, like sea creatures or bugs. I think I have like 9 or 10 octopi!
OMG, thank you for adopting 4 cats! For 10 years I managed feral colonies and I wanted to say thank you, thats such an amazing thing to do!!
