WARNING

Christmas Cards are a serious FIRE HAZARD.

It''s recommended that you do not send any Christmas Cards, unless they
have been treated with an approved fire retardant material, and the
cards have the U.L. sticker on them. If you receive Christmas cards in
the mail, DO NOT bring them into your home. Check them outdoors to see
if they have the U.L. sticker on them. If not, dispose of them in a
fireproof metal trash container immediately.
Christmas cards are made from a flammable material known as paper.
According to MSDS fact sheets, paper is classified as a highly flammable
material. Do not allow this material in your home unless it''s been
treated with a flame-proof substance.
If you must bring one of these non-flame treated cards inside your home,
place them inside a solid metal fireproof container and keep away from
heat and flame. Do not remove the card from this box inside the home at
any time. Take the container outdoors in an area that does not contain
any flammable materials before opening the container.

Note: Although there is nothing specific in this warning, I
think that the suggestion for checking them outdoors also improves
safety from lead poisoning
if the cards were from China.

Storm,
I love the warning.

However, I''m sure most people do not know what are UL and MSDS fact sheets unless they work in a manufacturing facility.

there are many things inside a home that are a fire hazard...just don't put your xmas cards next to an open flame and you'll probably be okay.

i can't imagine tossing someone's card just because it's not UL or whatever approved. oh your beautiful card you made from hand? sorry i burned it outside because it might have contained lead or burnt my house down.

Mara,
It''s just a joke. UL does not approve cards; they do that on electrical/electronic equipment only.

HAHA I hoped so! In fact my first like was ''is this a joke'' but then I thought well what if it isn''t! You seriously never know these days...everyone is so paranoid.

Too funny Storm, thanks for the giggle.

I couldn''t tell it was a joke either. In this day in age, nothing surprises me anymore, so I thought it was just some crackpot being serious (not the original poster, wherever it came from). I am known to be VERY clueless (obviously) when it comes to jokes though

I guess I should have said beep beep or ___---___ lol

We all know Storm and his jokes.

Thank you Storm for the giggle.

I like what you''ve done with your avatar.

I like it!!!

In the medical office where I worked, we used to use fingernail polish remover to remove some markings on eyeglass lenses. We had a HUGE deal about getting a MSDS sheet for it.

It still makes me giggle!
