hi guys,

so I’ve been looking for a decent diamond o for a few weeks now, and I came across the following diamond:

https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=2397172996

I’m concerned by the clarity characteristics which says: cloud, Crystal

is this a dealbreaker? What should I be looking for in a diamond that’s under 1 carat?

thanks for any help!

SIs can be tricky, can you post pictures of the diamond? I personally would look at VS clarity or higher, eye clean diamonds.

The table being bigger than the depth isnt great. What is your budget and desired size?

I don’t want to spend more than $4000, and I want to take it as close as possible to 1 carat as I can with that budget

Color preference?

Unfortunately it's going to be near impossible to find a 1ct H+ stone in budget that's well cut.

Here are some .90+ that are I color and above, and seem well cut (though not the best of the best).

How about in the 0.8ish range?

Much easier if you're open to .8 and above!

Here is a .8 from a super ideal vendor (meaning the cut is absolutely the best of the best):

Make sure to ask for the certificate if you like any of the options from JA and post it here (also put the stone on hold, which is free, so no one buys it before you can):

On paper I wouldnt recommend this one since its deeper than we recommend and 36.5 is steep. I like the look of it, but without any advanced images (ASET/IS) its risky.

PS recommends the following
Table between 54-58
Depth 60-62.3
Crown angle 34-35
Pavilion angle 40.6-40.9 sometimes 41 if crown angle is close to 34

Seems like JA has a lot of steep crown and deep stones right now. Did you look at the WF option?

How's this one? It looks good to me

You didn't miss out on much!

Check the WF option, this is better. Also, WF has an excellent upgrade policy in case you want to upgrade down the track. At JA, you need to double your original spend to upgrade.

I heard that there's a 30-40% premium on WF diamonds? Also, why don't you guys recommend Blue Nile?

If you like a stone, you need to put it on hold. Sadly there are lots of lurkers who take stones that are posted here.

It's not that high of a premium when comparing apples to apples (well cut stones w the same color and clarity). Part of the premium is the advanced imaging and the $1 upgrade policy. I dont have an issue w blue Nile

Agree with the above and no issues with BN here either. Just happens that the better options came up with the other vendors.

No issue with Blue Nile. They are reputable, however, you do need to know what you are doing when buying from them IF having beautiful and sparkly diamond is preferred. I color in 0.80ct is not going to look yellow by any means. I have 0.835ct in I color and it looked identical when compared to an H color of the same size - especially to the naked eye.

Here is a pic for comparison. Mine is very far left.

Hi guys,

thanks for all the help. I decided to go with the aforementioned whiteflash diamond. Doubt I could have done better.

Absolutely beautiful selection - congratulations!
