Cleaning a ring with a closed bottom

I need advice from anyone who has a setting that is closed on the bottom. I recently received the Valoria Petite setting from WF. It's gorgeous but what I didn't realize until I received it is that the bottom of the ring is closed, as in, there's not an opening under the stone. The setting is fairly low and I can't see the culet so I don't believe that I'm actually getting underneath my diamond with a toothbrush when I'm cleaning it. I would assume this will become a problem over time if I can't ever clean near the culet?

Can you get under your diamond to clean it? If not, have you noticed if this has dulled your stone over time?

Thanks!

Thank you! I didn't realize my new ring was so fancy it required special equipment!

Additionally, a steamer might also help…I don‘t have a Valoria setting, but I have found that a blast of steam seems to help dislodge bits from tight places that a toothbrush, and even an ultrasonic, can miss. It may not be necessary for your setting, though, since @rockysalamander mentioned there is a lot of room in your setting for water to get in and out!

Lol. I bought one off Amazon for ~$30 USD. It’s smaller than a toaster. I have a bead set ring with a closed back and it seems to work great at keeping it sparkly.

How often do people use their ultrasonics? I love mine but don't want to loosen prongs (if that's a possibility, no idea if it is or not).

I use my ultrasonic once a week. I have had no issues.

@Decision_Decisions I find it very easy to clean my setting. It’s completely open on all sides. I use an ultrasonic most of the time..Other times I just spray Windex on the sides and use a toothbrush for like two seconds and rinse under warm water. I pat it dry with a paper towel.. I clean mine daily ..

I have the small magnasonic ultrasonic from Amazon because I don’t have counter space for a larger real one.

I have broken two from I guess overuse, but I just get new ones.

I have a doomsday scenario water filter (Berkey), so I use the filtered water and bring it to a near boil, add it to the magnasonic and use Mr. Clean citrus and magnasonic the heck out of it, let it sit for a while, do the magnasonic again, take the diamonds out, dump that water and then near boil clean water and run it again for a rinse. Then I blow dry the jewelry with a hair dryer.

I got a small ultrasonic from amazon for about $30. I use it once a week. Every day as I'm doing dishes I use a toothbrush and dawn soap.

No issues whatsoever, @Decision_Decisions. I either soak it in warm water with a little Dawn dishwashing soap for maybe 30 min then gently brush with toothbrush once a week on Saturdays. Every other week, I use my ultrasonic cleaner.

@Decision_Decisions - btw, where is the thread for your new bling??!?!

do you mind sharing what kind of ultrasonic you got? I am also interested to know how to clean rings with an enclosed bottom. I thought about getting a light yellow diamond with yellow gold cup, but always have concern about how to clean it.
