Hi everyone... I tried to search for some info on this topic, but I had no luck... I am clueless about bridal designers. I have been reading beauty/fashion magazines for years, but when it comes to wedding gowns I can just pretty much recognize Vera Wang = expensive, while David''s Bridal = budget. I have no idea about anything in between. What would be a ranking of some of the popular designers from the most "couture" brand to the least? I am most interested in the middle range

This may seem silly, but as people are suggesting dress shops, I have no idea which ones carry quality dresses and which will be way out of my price range. Also, being a huge budget shopper, I would love to do some research on the more expensive designers'' styles and then match them to something more in my price range.

Thanks in advance for helping with my research

Check out Demetrios Bridal. They have something for every budget.

Hi Little Miss S!

Well, if you''ve been reading fashion mags for years, you''ll recognize some of the more chi-chi desigers because they specialize in evening gowns and do wedding gowns ''on the side'': Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Reem Acra, Bagley Mischka... all make wedding gowns as well as evening wear that run from about $3K-7K.

Perhaps the easiest primer would be to go on my fave budget-bride webiste bridepower.com and browse through by designer. They sell samples at deep discounts, but tell you what hte original price was. Search ''all'' rather than ''all in stock'' so you can see more styles. That way, you can see which designers'' styles you like and whether the original prices are in your range.

Have fun!

Maggie Sottero! *swoon* LOTS of PSers with her dresses, and I think a lot of them are under 1000. To compare prices, also look at www.jaysbridal.com. It''s a shop in Florida, but they also sell online. You have to register for free to see prices, but their selection is good.

I would check through theknot.com or bride.com's selection of dresses. They have a TON and you can arrange by style, price, etc. Soon you'll get to see a bunch that will be in your pricerange.

Otherwise, just do what I did, and go to a bridal boutique with your budget in mind and ask to be shown dresses within that budget. I got mine from Casablanca bridal who has a TON of dresses in that mid price range. Most bridal shops carry a selection of prices, but ask when you call to make an appt. ASK their average dress price to assure that they will have enough in your pricerange.

Good luck!
