I am posting this again because when it was moved my link became inactive, any thoughts on cobalt or tungsten?

I recently became engaged and purchased a Cobalt Wedding Band made with BioBlu27 for my fiance. The price is right and the styling is beautiful. I was doing some research online about the tungsten carbide rings and found this video (at the bottom of the page or on youtube)
and it shows that tungsten breaks

I would have been very unhappy if I had to replace the ring that we take our vows with. Has anyone had one of those tungsten rings break? ,has anyone out there had a tungsten carbide ring break?

You might consider posting your question in Rocky Talky. The shopping forum is generally used to discuss purchases other than jewelry, and it doesn''t get as much traffic as Rocky Talky.

Many jewelers have expressed extreme concern regarding the emergency removal of a COBALT RING. From what I have heard from the largest wedding band manufacturer in the U.S. removing a cobalt ring in the event of a medical emergency can be extremely difficult and a potentially dangerous situation. The ring will NOT come off your finger with a typical ring saw that most emergency rooms have. There is a special ring cutter, and it has to be used in a certain method, to cut a cobalt ring off your finger. The special ring cutter/saw to cut cobalt has to have water (or some other form of coolent and lubrication) applied to the ring during the cutting process. Otherwise, it might not cut through due to the blade become dull. AND your finger will burn due to the EXTREME HEAT generated from the ring cutter/saw. Lastly, the ring must be cut in two places so the ring will fall apart off the finger. So you have to endure this horrible cutting experience, not once, but twice.

My concern is that a guy might be in the middle of nowhere and have an accident where his ring finger is sprained, or even broken. Then he can't remove his cobalt ring. Thus the finger swells even more. What do to do if the EMT or Emergency Room does NOT have this very specialized ring cutter/saw? Most of the emergency personnel I spoke with do not have this tool. It would be horribly tragic to have your wedding ring finger amputated just to remove a ring. But this could be a very realistic situation for many men.

My personal opinion is to consider a different metal for your ring.
