I found stones that are exactly what I want on the Palagems website. I cant find them anywhere else. If I dont have a jeweler who can order what can I do to purchase from them?

Anyone done business with them. I am not looking to buy wholesale just want to be able to buy what I want.

Palagems doesn't sell retail, so you need an intermediary with a sales tax ID (they may also require proof that it is in the jewelry business). If you don't have a jeweler, the posters here can recommend several reputable people, who already have a business relationship with Pala.

Thanks! I hope people will reply with some names!

Hi,

Yes, WINK, from the diamond board. He has obtained some colored stones for some PSers . I know he got a beautiful tsavorite garnet for someones engagement ring, and he has worked for others. If his name isn't in the resources section, please just call him in a thread. He works with Pala. Pala has great gems.

Nearly any jeweler can buy from Pala, and they are a great company to deal with, but there are a few challenges that you should be aware of as follows:
1.The margins charged by individual jewelers can vary widely. Pala sells some really fine gems which come at high prices, so make sure to get a firm quote on price and be prepared to pay for the stone up front, (unless dealing with a very high end store which, of course, has higher margins).
2. The return period for goods that are sold through an intermediary like this are pretty small...on the order of a week or less. Pala may make exceptions, (I don't know), but usually gems sold within the trade are purchased within short time frames and once the money has changed hands there is no returning the stone. Make sure to check on the return period if you aren't pretty sure that the gem in question is the one for you.

One of the first things that you learn on the retail side of this business is that some people love to be entertained by asking to look at things which they may be interested in, (but in reality are not serious about potentially buying). One develops a set of mental "filters" in order not to lose money chasing after a sale that will never happen. Since you don't have a jeweler lined up for buying this way, you should be aware that you'll be facing "filters" that help a jeweler determine if you are serious and able to get what interests you. It is much easier if you can walk in to a shop and deal with someone face to face and so you may want ask if anyone has a referral from a retail shop close to you.

Hi Again,

I just looked in the resource section and found that Wink is listed under his company's name and is "High Performance Diamonds">

makes sense. however, with more unusual items like a fairly rare colored stone, most typical jewelers dont deal with that sort of item in any capacity. (where i live it is diamonds, pearls, rolex and brands like ritani). I have been looking for a specific stone for some time so i will buy it if it is a fair (to me) price and is as represented.
